College graduates in Africa may be more likely to be unemployed than informally educated youth with skills and experience. The solution? Entrepreneurship.

Yet, although entrepreneurship is great in itself and some progressive initiatives have been created to encourage it; will these young business builders be directed to empower Africa as a self-sustaining continent?

allAfrica.com: Africa: Universal Primary Education Is Not Enough

allAfrica.com: Africa: Universal Primary Education Is Not Enough | African child-centered Education | Scoop.it

"Colonial legacies, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, have hindered the way formal education shapes the minds of children."  Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, founder of BRAC, a second-chance education program in Bangladesh that serves over 9.5 million children, argues for the necessity of rethinking education in Africa.

Abed encourages child centered pedagogy and teaching students to think independently.  BRAC utilizes local resources and teachers to educate students in an intensive five year curriculum for only $32 per student per year in one room schools.  While global education advocates may be able to benefit from evaluating BRAC's model,  child centered education means African centered education in Africa.  Thus, education advocates must also include African centered approaches to pedagogy and curriculum within planning for reform.
