ANALYSIS: Booming US economy lifts business jet market | Aerospace MBA | Scoop.it
The business aviation community will converge on Orlando, Florida, from 15 to 17 October for the industry’s largest annual showcase, the NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (BACE). That this year’s venue is in the “Sunshine State” reflects the upbeat mood of a market that is finally daring to believe that a turnaround is finally underway – a decade after the collapse of Lehman Brothers and global financial crisis brought the industry to its knees.

NBAA: Loss of control in flight continues to plague business aviation

NBAA: Loss of control in flight continues to plague business aviation | Aerospace MBA | Scoop.it
Business aviation's safety Achilles heel, like that of the airlines, seems to be loss of control in flight (LOC-I). That was true in 2016 and 2017, and it looks as if this year – with three months yet to run – is going the same way too.

ANALYSIS: Challenger 600 marks 40 years in business

ANALYSIS: Challenger 600 marks 40 years in business | Aerospace MBA | Scoop.it
The company was Canadair and the aircraft was its Challenger 600, which made its first flight 40 years ago next month, on 8 November 1978. And that aviation icon who created the original concept – as the "LearStar 600" – was none other than Bill Lear. The Challenger – which become the first aviation asset in the Bombardier product line in August 1986 – was the programme that gave Canadair the right to play in the large-cabin business jet market, and spawned the Global series. It also, of course, was the baseline from which Canadair developed a small airliner to tap what many originally believed was a niche market for regional jets. The aircraft went on to rack up orders well into four digits.

Meteorological Briefing Workshop at TBSeeds

Meteorological Briefing Workshop at TBSeeds | Aerospace MBA | Scoop.it
''Pre-flight preparation is an essential preliminary to all flights. Usually, it comprises the following five stages, although stages 1. and 2. may be interchanged:
1.AIS (aeronautical information ) briefing
2.Meteorological Briefing
3.Route Selection
4.Chart Preparation
5.Flight Plan Preparation
For this first event, let's focus on Meteorological Briefing, which is key in a flight preparation:
Meteorological briefing involves determining forecast and actual weather conditions for the route planned and for selected airfields along the route.
En-route weather comprises forecast winds and temperatures at cruising levels along the route together with forecasts of en-route weather conditions, especially cloud conditions and any associated turbulence and/or icing. This information is depicted on special charts. Airfield weather reports may be either actual reports (METAR) or forecast conditions (TAF). METARs are issued at regular intervals; when a significant change to conditions occurs before the next METAR is due, a special report (SPECI) is issued. In the interests of brevity and clarity, written METARs, SPECIs and TAFs always follow the same format and employ simple self-evident codes
We will review together existing tools, and exchange on 48H weather forecast....and will review how to use these data for daily operations''
