Teenagers With ADHD The Signs Symptoms and Treatment Need Help | CRC Health Group | CRC Health Group

FREE Information on Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADD| Expert advise from CRChealth.com the industry leader in behavioral health.
Thomas Reilly's insight:

This would be a great article for any teens who may be experiencing problems in school and need information on ADHD symptoms. The information portrayed is consistent with information from other sources. It notes ADHD affects 8 to 10 percent of children and teens, which is consistent with the 10.3 percent reported for this statistic in a scholarly article (Danielson, M. 2014). This does exclude information about help for adults, so the article could be more diverse. It gives a few possible causes for ADHD, where one of my websites no.ted that there were no known causes (Grohol, J. M. 2014)

▶ ADHD and the Brain - YouTube

Thomas Reilly's insight:

This video is great for understanding ADHD from a scientific point of view. It talks about how the brain of a person with ADHD functions differently than the brain of a person who does not have ADHD. Lots of the video talks about possible causes in the brain for ADHD. The possibilities listed here go completely without mention in my scholarly article, where no known cause is stated. (Danielson, M. 2014). It may not be as helpful as the articles on behavior and the personnel anecdotes because it does not give information on living with ADHD. It notes treatment which is consistent with the book, stimulant prescriptions like Adderall, but does not mention psychological therapies as treatment (Myers, 2014).

Boredom x ADHD = Depression

Boredom x ADHD = Depression | ADHD | Scoop.it
Boredom gives people with attention deficit the blues. Here’s how I fend off full-on depression when I start to feel down.
Thomas Reilly's insight:

This is a great blog about a single father suffering from ADHD while raising four daughters. It's full of posts about dealing with ADHD, and getting through everyday challenges. He talks a good deal about coping with depression, which can be a common problem paired with ADHD Myers, D. G. (2014). Unfortunately I don't see this blog being helpful to many diverse groups. It can apply to parents for sure, and adults who have problems with ADHD, even though that's only about 4% (Danielson, M. 2014). This is a really great blog, but it may be hard for people to relate to.

Help4Kids with ADHD - Real-life Stories

Thomas Reilly's insight:

This is a collection of stories from people who suffer form ADHD. There are stories that come from kids, as well as from adults. This helps to show people that adults are in fact being diagnosed with ADHD as well as children (Grohol, J. M. 2014). Some of the stories discuss the difficult time people have accepting that they have what is rightfully considered a mental health disorder (Myers, D. G. 2014). This link is great for diverse groups, because there is lots of variance in the real life stories. There are many ages, personalities, and even a bilingual boy.

Caroline Young Stand Up "ADHD" - YouTube

Caroline Young Stand Up Comedy "ADHD" @ Tommy T's
Thomas Reilly's insight:

Caroline young does a very good job of talking about here ADHD in a not so serious kind of tone, even though her humor is kind of dark. She mentions that she thinks ADHD is over prescribed, which is a controversy also touched on in the text book. However this could be due to an increased awareness of ADHD (Myers, 2014). The information itself may not be entirely helpful, but joking about the topic can help many teenagers who suffer with anxiety disorders as well as ADHD (Grohol, J. M. 2014). A great thing about this video is comedy is universal, so no matter the person with ADHD, I think this would be worth watching.

ADD / ADHD and School: Helping Children and Teens with ADHD Succeed at School

ADD / ADHD and School: Helping Children and Teens with ADHD Succeed at School | ADHD | Scoop.it
Practical tips for helping a child with ADHD thrive in school and enjoy learning.
Thomas Reilly's insight:

This article has the possibility to be very useful to any parent with an ADHD diagnosed child or a teacher with a student who has ADHD. It acknowledges the difficult of ADHD for the child with accurate information. Children want to act like everyone else, but ADHD is a neurological disorder which prevents that (Myers, D. G. 2014). The information used by the author is also very relevant. They discuss strategies for interacting with ADHD kids since it is a disorder that usually appears in childhood (Grohol, J. M. 2014,). The support strategies in the article could apply to studants of any ethnicity in a classroom.
