Celebrity headphones – Too much hype and too little audio quality?

Celebrity headphones – Too much hype and too little audio quality? | Headphones | Scoop.it
Celebrities are lining up to endorse their own branded lines of headphones. The trouble is, a celebrity endorsement doesn't translate into quality.
Josh Loomis's insight:

One of the biggest problems that has come up in the past few years is relating a celebrity endorsed name the sound quality in a pair of headphones. After Dr. Dre released his beats, Ludacris was the next rapper on the scene with his line of Soul headphones. Those were the two front runners for a while until things were made like the House of Marley headphones, 50 Cent's SMA Audio 50's, and even Jay Z partnered with SkullCandy to make the Roc Nation Aviators. The problem with having a celebrity name on the box is people convince themselves the sound quality is going to be just as incredible as the artist who wrote their name on the box. Wrong.

Josh Loomis's insight:

Wireless and bluetooth run headphones are the next step. As technology grows and the conducted research behind it goes further, from a consumer standpoint it is a lose lose situation. We always want the newest and best quality of anything, so the trouble is buying something great that should last a few years before its value is lost will only last six to eight months before something an upgraded version is released.

Pros:

- Newer technology is being researched and released more frequently than ever

- More refined products

- Better quality is becoming cost effective

Cons:

- Does the newer products being cost effective to a bigger audience de-value them?

- It's becoming easier to create impostor products with so many new ones circulating all the time.

Best DJ Headphones

Best DJ Headphones | Headphones | Scoop.it
It is important to have a quality set of headphones so if you are on the lookout then read through this best DJ headphones list (It will be constantly updated throughout the year when newer DJ headphones are released).

Josh Loomis's insight:

Just like anything, as humans we like to have a choice no matter what the subject is. Different people like different headphones for different uses. As a music fanatic myself, having the right pair of headphones is paramount. A listening experience while walking to class isn't the same as plugging into a system in the studio, or taking a nap on a plane ride, or studying for an exam. Three different scenario's, three different emotions, three possibilities for different types of headphones. It is always important when researching something that will have an everyday use that your research is thorough but also fairly reviewed. Take different opinions into consideration, look at every article from every point of view you can think of. That's what I like so much about scoop.it, there are people from everywhere with varied opinions, why not read a few.

Headphones read your brainwaves and pick music to suit your mood

Headphones read your brainwaves and pick music to suit your mood | Headphones | Scoop.it
Prototype shown at tech conference determine your mood – and play songs to match.
Josh Loomis's insight:

See what I mean by newer technology all the time! Something like this will be filling our stores soon enough. Headphones that adjust to your brainwaves to help select a genre or artist to suit the mood you're in when you push play. Products like this really convince me that what we thought was the future is quickly becoming the present, leaving the possibilities for the actual future at an endless road  of outer space.

The Evolution of Headphones [INFOGRAPHIC]

The Evolution of Headphones [INFOGRAPHIC] | Headphones | Scoop.it
It's no secret that we have a fondness for all things headphones these days, but sometimes, it's worth taking a look back and seeing how far we've come fro...

Josh Loomis's insight:

This article is the main reason I chose headphones as my scoop.it topic. Seeing how far we have come in the music industry is truly remarkable. But when you narrow it down to things like the ipod, the mp3, the cd, wireless speakers, noise canceling headphones, things of that nature, it becomes much more incredible to look at where it all started. Just the simple invention of earbuds was a big deal, over the ear headphones were the lone competitor in it's own market for a while. There were lots of different kinds, different shapes and designs, but in the past ten years five years, products like Beats, Soul, Bose, and SkullCandy are all constantly in a race with each other to produce the best sound.
