Internet :: Reporting a Crash :: SAPOL | OHS; Accident Forensics to ME! | Scoop.it
Courtney Charlton's insight:

Caught me by great surprise that It's not actually required to report a non-reportable accident. What if a victim or others involved didn't report the accident within 24 hours, but two weeks later had terrible back pain? Could he/she link this to the accident and have anything done about it? No injury and no damage, i still would think it would be an offence not to report a crash.

Workplace safety success on social media - MySafetySign Blog

Workplace safety success on social media - MySafetySign Blog | OHS; Accident Forensics to ME! | Scoop.it
In case you weren't aware, workplace safety lives on social media. Here's what we suggest doing to get involved in the right discussions.
Courtney Charlton's insight:

With the high chance of having the opportunity to do a double degree of Accident Forensics and hopefully OHS by the end of my degree, I would also consider going into the OHS side of things. Double Degree! I would love to make a difference in a workplace or industry to potentially reduce health and safety problems/risks. The article states that workplace safety lives on social media. Social media has become such a significant role in peoples lives, I say why not! The more promotion out there, the better.

They leave a trail of forensic evidence. * 90% includes human error * 50% include a problem like highway design. Video Quick Study (9:41) Shows an accident investigator talking about how they use crash forensics.
Courtney Charlton's insight:

To be able to wake up daily knowing I will attend crash scenes and investigate accidents to the very core interests me. Having the knowledge to know the reason why an accident happened, what occurred and how I could prevent this from happening again would be life changing and truly challenging. I can travel anywhere in the world doing this degree. Where ever it shall take me, ill go.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash Compilation - YouTube

Fatal Motorcycle Crash Compilation Vol.2 : http://youtu.be/r_dLw_e4eZ0
Courtney Charlton's insight:

I can see in this video that road laws are very different to our Laws here in Queensland. These accidents remind me of the roads and traffic in Thailand. Cutting in and out of traffic and not following the road rules, if any are in place. Would of been interesting to see if the motorbikes or cars where at fault. Good to see the victims of these accidents are all wearing helmets.

Head-on crash claims the life of young motorcyclist

Head-on crash claims the life of young motorcyclist | OHS; Accident Forensics to ME! | Scoop.it
A BROOKWATER motorcyclist has been killed only days before his 21st birthday in a head-on collision in Carole Park.
Courtney Charlton's insight:

The fatally injured 21 year old cut a corner to quickly costing him his life. An accident like this can just show that accidents happen in the blink of an eye due to a silly decision. But who am I to judge and make that statement. Was there reasoning as to why he cut that corner to fast? Would of been interesting to see the end report of this crash.

Behind the Scenes: Crash Test Dummies

Behind the Scenes: Crash Test Dummies | OHS; Accident Forensics to ME! | Scoop.it
If you watched TV in the 1980s and 1990s, you may remember the slogan: "You could learn a lot from a dummy. Buckle your safety belt." The famous line was from the "Buckle Up" campaign produced by the Ad Council and the U.S.
Courtney Charlton's insight:

Crash Dummies saved 30, 000 lives within 1983-1991! What an incredible successful campaign! Isn't it unfortunate that despite this knowledge being well circulated in today's society about seat belt safety, lives are still being loss due to passengers/drivers not buckling their safety belt. Something so easy can save your life!
