Auto-Tune: The good, the bad and the ugly | Making it In Music | A Good Singer or Not a Good Singer (Auto-Tune) | Scoop.it
The new music resource for building a career in the music business.
Kelly Nunez's insight:

In this article I really liked how there was an anonymous Grammy Award Winning Engineer comparing auto-tune to plastic surgery. In a way the engineer states that to use auto-tune to where people won't realize it. Just like how some people have had plastic surgery and we never noticed it until someone says something.

Taking Pitch Correction To The Limit

Taking Pitch Correction To The Limit | A Good Singer or Not a Good Singer (Auto-Tune) | Scoop.it
For a good singer, automatic tuning software tidies up off-key and wrong notes. It can even make you sound like a robot — or at least like R&B singer T-Pain. But what could it do for Weekend Edition host Liane Hansen?
Kelly Nunez's insight:

Who knew that the guy that work in the oil company for 13 years be the creator of auto-tune? I was surprised to hear that Aretha Franklin never knew what auto-tune was. Thats ok because she doesn't need to because she is an amazing singer. Crazy how auto-tune is used by 60% of recording artists today.

Jay-Z's D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune) has stirred up yet more controversy about the vocal-enhancing technique, but what is it exactly?
Kelly Nunez's insight:

I always knew about auto-tune and what it was but never knew when it really was created until now.I am actually surprised that it was created in the the 1990's. In my mind it auto-tune was a lot older than that.

In Defense of Auto-Tune

In Defense of Auto-Tune | A Good Singer or Not a Good Singer (Auto-Tune) | Scoop.it
I am here today to defend auto-tune. I may be late to the party, but if you watched Lil Wayne’s recent schizophrenic performance on MTV’s VMAs you know that auto-tune isn’t going anywhere.   The th...
Kelly Nunez's insight:

I don't like that auto-tune can be used for just small things to fix it up and sound clean. I just don't like that some artist abuse it to where their voices don't sound real. For me if you can do everything that is on the recording live then that is a perfect singer. What I liked about this article is that it showed different videos that use auto-tune in the music that we have all heard before.

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY | A Good Singer or Not a Good Singer (Auto-Tune) | Scoop.it
Kelly Nunez's insight:

One you open this article hear a song from Kanye I believe and how he uses auto-tune. In this article there were artists mentioned like T-Pain, Kesha, and Kanye West that are not ashamed to say that they use auto-tune. In my opinion I think they use it to use it as a signature for people to know that when they listen to their music they know that its T-Pain's music or that it is Kanye's music. Or they just like the sound that it makes and just don't care what people say.

Seduced by ‘perfect’ pitch: how Auto-Tune conquered pop music | A Good Singer or Not a Good Singer (Auto-Tune) | Scoop.it
In January of 2010, Kesha Sebert, known as ‘Ke$ha’ debuted at number one on Billboard with her album, Animal. Her style is electro pop-y dance music: she alternates between rapping and singing, the...
Kelly Nunez's insight:

I never really paid attention to Cher's song "Believe" that she used auto-tune. Of course I was young when it came out and didn't know what that was. Now that I went back and listened I was able to hear the auto-tune that the article spoke about. I also found out that she was the first to ever use auto-tune.

This article shares light on how auto tune has impacted pop stars in pop music. Author Lessley Anderson gives us an honest opinion which is supported by several examples from Keisha,Taylor Swift,Kanye West, T-Pain and The Beatles. The sources proves to be credible after cross-referencing her information. The article is The Verge a credible magazine out of London.

After reading the article, I strongly agree with her view and would like personally break away from the auto tune perfect pitch.
