Broadway's 'Big Fish' to Close Three Months After Opening

Broadway's 'Big Fish' to Close Three Months After Opening | 5 "musical adaptation" Broadway Shows have ended their run early this season | Scoop.it
NEW YORK -- The Broadway musical Big Fish is being reeled in.
Tali Z. George's insight:

"Big Fish" predicted to succeed since it is a very well known novel, However their income was not that bad, they finished with an 69 percent capacity. Even though it's a "respectable" number, still not good enough for Broadway Theaters. I believe it was a good strategyto run the show until holidays ended, giving the show the opportunity to profit from a usually strong season.

Regarding the director Susan Stromanis; a 5 time Tony Award- winner and the Show ; an adaptation of Tim Burtons Novel, makes it hard to believe the idea of the show not meeting the expectations. On the other hand Its not the only show with big expectations ending its run early in the season. The Beatles tribute "Let it be" as well ended early, among 3 others.

Pros and Cons:

Failure is a tool to future success; Sometimes directors andproducers get to confident on their fame and status. In this case on both the status of the director on the Industry and Status of the novel. Getting to confident may not be a good influence on the work and the outcome of your work. On the other hand, this failure makes the industry search into their weaknesses, and within those finding a way to improve the whole industry. Since this is not the only show that has not met the box office expectations, there is obviously something that needs to be improved towards the entire Industry. This brings more work opportunities for show production students, graduates and current workers of the industry,  with great skills and  creativity to improve the shows and look for ways to be more appealing to the audience.

On other attempt of succes,  the prduction "A time to kill" consisted on a cast of many well known actors as a marketing strategy to get the interest of the audience. However this did not work and failed in its attempt.

NEW YORK – The Beatles tribute show Let It Be will close on Broadway four months earlier than planned due to slow ticket sales.
Producers announced Monday that the production's final performance at the St.
Tali Z. George's insight:

This is not the first version of a Biltes tribute, this being one of the main defects of the show and the main causes of its low box office results. On one hand,  the Beatles as much as they are loved by the audience, they have become a cliche on the show industry. Even though it's a Classic, the audience may prefer to go watch a less predictable Show.

On the other hand this specific production had to many similarities to the production that took place before, resulting in a lawsuit against Let It Be production from the previous producers.

Let It Be played it to only 40 percent of the capacity.
