Sean N's insight:

Awesome article that talks about not actual limb replacements - but creating a socket for the limb to fit into for the user, as the problem is more about fitting the printer limb nowadays than getting a hold of it, sounds like great work.

This is possible thanks to a new type of 3-D printer being developed at Oak Ridge National Labs.
Sean N's insight:

The automobile industry has been mostly stagnant for the longest time, with the entire industry needing a complete overhaul IMO (this has become apparent in Australia recently as well,)  and 3D printers are absolutely going to give it the shake up it needs when it gets there eventually. Talks about a "modual" read: "addition" printer that prints in parts for in this case a car - to be done live at a conference.

It seems like we can't go a week these days without hearing about some new startup making a new 3D printer that wants to be better and cheaper than everything else.

Sean N's insight:

Good article with a video that talks about a start up focused on creating a better material to print with, rather than the printers themselves, durability, flame resistance, among other things are covered.
