A 360 Degree Assessment! You might surely have heard of it. This is typically employed by the Human Resource Department of every organization to review the performance of each employee. But what exactly does a 360 performance review mean? Well, 360 is where a person gets feedback on their performance from their peers, their subordinates, their boss and in some cases even suppliers and clients. That's why it is called 360 - you get feedback from all around you." It is considered extremely intense and you should not mess up with it.

 

Why should you consider using a 360 degree assessment?


To begin with, if you think that you have been doing a great job just because those above you are totally impressed with your work would be an understatement. In fact, the most important thing in an organisation is to check if everybody in the company is equally happy with your work.  If you never receive feedback from those below you in the organisation hierarchy, then you are receiving a skewed picture.

 

How could 360 feedback survey be beneficial for an employee?


It becomes essential to get a 360 performance review of an employee, because, he is responsible for the performance of other co-workers, indirectly. A 36o feedback survey would be the one gathered from the employee's managers, and co-workers, direct reports, customers as well as clients and others with the help of a questionnaire.  The questions covered in the questionnaire would cover topics like abilities, skills, core competencies, behaviour, attitude, work performance, etc. Once the data is gathered, it would then be reviewed so that the employee can improve upon his skills.
