Thousands of Einstein Documents Are Now a Click Away | Dennis Overbye | NYTimes.com | Education | Scoop.it

They have been called the Dead Sea Scrolls of physics. Since 1986, the Princeton University Press and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, to whom Albert Einstein bequeathed his copyright, have been engaged in a mammoth effort to study some 80,000 documents he left behind.

Starting on Friday, when Digital Einstein is introduced, anyone with an Internet connection will be able to share in the letters, papers, postcards, notebooks and diaries that Einstein left scattered in Princeton and in other archives, attics and shoeboxes around the world when he died in 1955.

The Einstein Papers Project, currently edited by Diana Kormos-Buchwald, a professor of physics and the history of science at the California Institute of Technology, has already published 13 volumes in print out of a projected 30.

The published volumes contain about 5,000 documents that bring Einstein’s story up to 1923, when he turned 44, in ever-thicker, black-jacketed, hard-bound books, dense with essays, footnotes and annotations detailing the political, personal and cultural life of the day. A separate set of white paperback volumes contains English translations. Digitized versions of many of Einstein’s papers and letters have been available on the Einstein Archives of the Hebrew University.

Google Classroom to Google Calendar (via a Sheet)

Google Classroom to Google Calendar (via a Sheet) | Education | Scoop.it

The one missing link in Google Classroom seems to be its ability to show the deadlines of set work in your Google Calendar. The Google Apps Scriptbelow does just that, adding assignment deadlines to your calendar and along the way creating a Google Sheet of all your assignments too. It does this by picking up the incoming e-mails sent out when new assignments are set, reading them and adding them to the sheet and calendar.

Plagiarism is frowned upon in the school where I teach. Unforrtunately, collaborative learning is about sharing of ideas, which can sometimes consitute plagiarism! Plagiarism is  also about using another person's ideas and not even acknowledging that person! In times when a lot of project work is given to students in the name of research work, it has become important to ensure that they don'e plagiarize! The Cheat sheet is an interesting way ensuring that the level of plagiarism doesn't exceed the boundaries of severity! I found this cheat sheet rather intersting and so thought I ought to re-scoop it!

Francesco Canzoniere's curator insight, November 10, 2015 5:06 AM

Today, Google has released TensorFlow, a new AI system that's used in everything from recognising speech on a noisy sidewalk to finding photos of your pet dog Fluffy.

And in a rare move for Google, it's making its software open source, meaning anyone can access and edit the code.

The software passes complex data structures, or tensors, through a neural network, or artificial brain, hence the name Tensor Flow. This process is a core part of deep learning, a powerful AI tool that is used in many of Google's products.
