Sir Ken Robinson: Finding market pressures to innovate mducation

Sir Ken Robinson: Finding market pressures to innovate mducation | 21st Century Literacy and Learning | Scoop.it
There are unique pressures in the business of education. The current vision of education is so ensconced in the minds of so many of the world’s population, that the necessary changes are nearly impossible to enact. Almost everyone that has experienced the institution of education, which is almost everyone on the planet, believes he or she knows what education is. The problem is that institutionalized education is woefully behind the times. And those who have come through the system are institutionalized.

So, you and I and all of our neighbors believe that education is a system where we sequester our young people for eleven years or more, subject them to facts and methods that an “educated” person should know, and when our young people emerge they are educated.
