Arianna Smith's curator insight, February 11, 2014 2:24 PM

After losing the lawsuits last winter Olympics, they finally are allowing women ski jumping! This is a great moment in history, because women are getting more rights. I don't actually understand why they wouldn't allow women to participate before, it's not necessarily manly. But I'm glad there allowing women to have this chance. Though this article is about this being done, it's mostly centered around  Sarah Hendrickson of the USA. She tore her ACL and MCL and they are difficult to recover. She's not dropping out though, because she want's to be part of this moment in history. So hopefully her knees don't mes it up for her. Team USA or not, I want everyone involved in the Olympics to have there chance to shine! :)

Nick Goepper

You wouldn't expect a world-class skier to be raised in Indiana, but Nick Goepper was, and despite the geographical obstacle he faced growing up, the smart and talented Goepper made due with what was around him, skiing at a nearby mountain that stayed open at night. He also built features with a mixture of snow and astroturf in his backyard so he could practice while he was home. Goepper, who's known for his flawlessly executed slopestyle runs, has the tools for success and it shows with his impressive roster of results.
