David Jobling's insight:

"While I was in the middle of a court case that dragged on over seven years there were moments when all I wanted was a little book to read that would help me keep my sanity," says David Paul, "There is quite a lot of material available to women, not so much for men. I'm an adult with first hand experience as well as the skills to write; since it dawned on me that I could create exactly what I felt I needed... all I need to do is raise sufficient funds to do it."

David Jobling's insight:

We were also advised, “If you are having trouble keeping the public off your Tram Stop, you can ask security to assist you,” which reminded me of a training course I did with theSydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade back in the last century. In the 1980s and 90s I volunteered as Parade Security for the Mardi Gras Parade in Sydney. Some of those parades were true nightmare material; a collection of community friends and volunteers holding hands… being a human barrier to throngs of soused and drugged up people depending on where you were positioned along the route.

#ADLfringe The Mata Hari Project

#ADLfringe The Mata Hari Project | Arts From the Adelaide Desktop | Scoop.it
It is so hot and stingy in the sun around Adelaide today I can imagine even Tennessee Williams would have unbuttoned his top button; takes a lot of courage for some to even loosen the tie these day...
David Jobling's insight:

Bianca Sheedy is Mata Hari, accompanied by Musical Director pianist Pat Wilson one of the best piano accompanists in the country in my opinion. Adrian Barnes Directs this Adelaide fringe show billed as The Mata Hari Project, he and Gerhard Ruediger provide some voice overs.

TMHP is authentic fringe material; don’t misunderstand what I mean by ‘fringe’ it is not scruffy or rough at the edges in fact it is very distinguished, poised, elegant and mature. It is still going through metamorphosis structurally as a work of art like every other piece of musical theatre ever created.

The Magnets return - Pop Musicology
David Jobling's insight:

As funny as they are musically talented, The Magnets are suitable for all ages having paid their dues as a student group and street performers through to a major record deal with EMI and over a decade of international touring. They have supported artists such as Blondie, Bryan Adams and Tom Jones and performed private shows for heads of state, supermodels and royalty. Regular contributors on the BBC, they have also been seen and heard across radio and television internationally as well as featuring on the YouTube viral T-Mobile Welcome Back commercial.

All This Time is The Magnets fourth studio album and their first on Wrasse Records, supported by a world tour that has taken the band from New Zealand to New York. The Magnets present simply great music, simply with the mouth.

The Post-Abuse Handbook for Boys

The Post-Abuse Handbook for Boys | Arts From the Adelaide Desktop | Scoop.it
David Paul, a writer, visual artist and survivor of child sexual assault is seeking to raise funds that will enable him to create and publish a small book that offers insights on how to deal with being sexually assaulted as a boy.

David Paul's first hand experiences of dealing with police, lawyers, the "system" and the media will provide extremely useful insights on how to cope with a range of awkward problems including: memory aids, clearing guilt, finding moral support and self protection during the process.

His physicality is attractive; I say he dresses to evoke a Frank Sinatra swinging fifties lanky style. Think ‘Guys and Dolls’ Sinatra, before Old Blue Eyes matured into Pulp Detective Sinatra without the Lanky Yank brashness which works well; Krendl draws his audience in with simple qualities of isolated humility, he doesn’t so much seek to impress as create the impression that everything he is doing is natural to him.

Mother’s Cake - Pop Musicology

Mothers Cake - Pop Musicology
David Jobling's insight:

Mother’s Cake was founded in 2008 when three musicians came together to embody the spirit of revolution and change of the 1970’s with the concurrent tendencies of their generation. The trio, consisting of the outstanding individual musicians Yves Krismer, Benedikt Trenkwalder and Jan Haußels, features dynamic and ambitious songwriting that reminds of legends like The Mars Volta, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Mother’s Cake’s music is based on a complex netting of rhythm and harmonic possibilities without losing its own authenticity or having the effect of artificiality. Their lyrics express feelings of revolution, love, independence and freedom.

The Body in the Garden - Adelaide News | Your News
David Jobling's insight:
A new festival is set to join the October line-up of arts events in Adelaide. 'The Body in the Garden', a crime and garden writers' festival, will be held in the Botanic Garden during the weekend of 25-27 October.

Readers love crime novels and readers love books about gardening - and many readers love both - and this quirky festival will feature a mix of Australian and international writers on these topics.
