2 Ward Hunter's insight:

Three characteristics are that she is a women, she is Latina, and she has kept her views under wraps. By being a women latina  she is diverse and the senate can not vote her in just because of those reasons. She kept her views to her self and said that she would decide cases with the evidence presented to her not her own beliefs. Interest groups can lobby the senators to not vote a person in or they can launch attack ads.
