2 Calhoun Ansley's insight:

This political cartoon illustrates the controversy over Hillary Clinton's emails. It could possibly suggest some bias toward the liberals because the sign she is holding up says things like "sorrynodirt@clintonemail.com."  She also is smiling at the picture and proudly showing her emails which portrays she has done nothing wrong so has nothing to hide. She also looks younger and prettier in the picture making the picture more pleasing to the eye and the reader more likely to continue looking at it.

2 Calhoun Ansley's insight:

The first thing you see is the headline to an article, "Clinton used personal email but ousted ambassador was chastised for doing the same." The article shows its bias toward the liberals/ progressives when they say Clinton is trying her best to deflect suggestions. It also says Clinton complying with the investigators, making it seem like people are overeacting to the situation. It also distracts readers from the "email scandal" to Gration who is a former ambassador of Kenya.

A filibuster is where a Senator gives a long speech in order to delay passing a bill. A cloture motion can be passed with a 3/5 majority if 40% of the Senate signs it, the bill will not come to the floor. A closure motion can now limit the time of the Senator. If 40% of the Senators threaten a closure motion, a filibuster will not come to the floor and they can move on to another debate.

Election Other - Congressional Job Approval | 2 Calhoun Ansley | Scoop.it
RealClearPolitics Polls
2 Calhoun Ansley's insight:

The current approval rating for Congress is 18.2% and they have a 72. 8% disapproval rating. The approval rate is low because there has been gridlock among Congress and the White House. Incumbent's get elected re-elected 90% of the time because voters go with a common name of their party. The Framers created a Congress that would tend to be unpopular with the whole country because they established state representation based on population. With 435 House Representatives it can be almost impossible to get everyone to agree, which is why we get gridlocks.

Republicans unmoved by Clinton email release

Republicans unmoved by Clinton email release | 2 Calhoun Ansley | Scoop.it
Democrats sought to defend the former secretary of state, pointing to examples of several 2016 GOP presidential hopefuls using private email to conduct business
2 Calhoun Ansley's insight:

The title of this article "Republicans unmoved by Clinton email release" can lead people to believe it is bias, leaning towards the republicans.  The article quotes that "the committee will press forth with its plan to subpoena Clinton’s correspondence." They mention Clinton tweeting about wanting her emails to be released to the public. The article also states Clinton is trying to do to clear her name but "Still, Republicans say it’s not enough." It talks about Republican Congressmen a lot and mentions how disappointed they are in Clinton. Unlike the FOX News one, this one does talk about what is going on in the Clinton and email story and does not mention someone else to distract them from Clintons boo boo.

2 Calhoun Ansley's insight:

The revolving door is where a congress member will spin in and out of the private sectors with their privilege, power, access, and money. This shows how congressmen are in senate and then leave office and are hired by PACs, start working for them, and then get even more money. This however can add to the growing mistrust Americans have in their government if they feel they a bias from when they were in office or if they have no loyalties at all and just jump to whoever gives them the most benifits. Since they were in office before hand though they can have a greater influence in getting policies passed.
