TeacherKit - YouTube

TeacherKit App
Wendy Hamood's insight:

3rd Application -  Tracking attendance and behaviour of student. Would like to experiment with students using it to facilitate and manage team projects.

Is the application a good choice for mobile learning- yes but application that I was looking for relates more to F2F group work

Cognitive levels  - not sure who this sits with blooms but I was thinking of using it to prmote team work and collaboratio

As a facilitator of team work I find it difficult to ensure that all students contribute equally and keep track of how much each student contributes. I was after an app that let students track how much each member contributes with with goal of the group being to find ways to ensure that everyone contributes in a more equal way.

There may be a better app for doing this but haven't found it yet

Wendy Hamood's insight:

7th application - Mighy Meeting - another great way to collaborate. Not sure about long term costs.  Looks very simple to use. Was looking for an application that might allow students to create educational material for clients and share it with them. Might not be suitable for this purpose but looks easy to use.

Wendy Hamood's insight:

Mighy meeting website

Is the application a good choice for mobile learning - yes

Cognitive levels  - knowledge to create

Explain how it could be useful in your context - I teach into a professional skill stream which has subjects in different year levels of at 6 year program. Many  of the professional skills course coordinators are part time so we stuggle to find time to meet F2F . We are currently struggling to conduct a review of the teaching content of the professional skills stream and I was thinking this might be an alternative to F2F meeting. Could be using for student group work in a similar way.

Wendy Hamood's insight:

1st Application - Scoop.it

Is the application a good choice for mobile learning - looks like a good way to direct students to useful links

Cognitive levels (Knowledge, application or understanding depending on content)

Explain how it could be useful in your context

Provided there are not password issues with accessing this information I would like to use it to provide students with useful animal industry links to read before going on farm placements. Students from farming backgrounds struggle to find things to talk about to farmers. I was hoping that I could post the  same "scoop it link" on My Uni for 3 different cohorts so that I could update information from scoop it rather have to individually each link for each cohort.

The main issue for mobile learning is having internet access to download. I think I came across a link that lets you download content (which could be done on campus) then view later.

YouTube

Wendy Hamood's insight:

2nd Application - You Tube

Is the application a good choice for mobile learning - yes provided there are not internet access issue but there may be an app to overcome this

Cognitive levels - knowledge but also application if student are required to contruct a Utube video. We probably all suffer from internet overload. U Tube can be a more efficient way  to gain knowledge eg you can down load an You Tube demonstrating use of an  app or down load and app and try to figure it out for yourself.

Explain how it could be useful in your context - Sharing information, a supplement to providing content that can be accessed any time. I am currently experimenting with incorporating Utube videos into lecture content. The time saved preparing content can be spent discusing how content can be applied to real life situations. I have made my own you tube presentations to post on My Uni for introductions and updates. Need to work on keeping my eyes open at the start :)

eClicker online spot 1920x1080p PAL v06 - YouTube

Net als ik altijd computer problemen? In Venray bij E Clicker fiksen zij het voor je maar niet in Afrika!
Wendy Hamood's insight:

5th Application - eClicker

Saw an interesting paper on "Using iPads to increase the level of student engagement in the peer review and feedback process"

ihd 2014 - 1st International Conference on the use of iPads in Higher Educations. This youtube clip doesn't really explain much about eClicker but it is a great illustration of mobile learning..... love the colours.

Don't think this application is free

Is the application a good choice for mobile learning - yes but may be a initial set up cost

Explain what cognitive levels - Understanding

Explain how it could be useful in your context - not sure if this is the ideal app as it is not free but could look at possiblity of getting funding because it could potentially replace "Clickers" which are not mobile.

Every year  students are required to give a presentation on their placement experience with the aim that students get the benefit of sharing each others experience, but no notice students are often doing other things on their lap tops or ipads rather than listening. I was thinking if students were required to give feedback on all the presentations this may be a means of achieving this. The other benefit being that students would get more feedback on their presentations.
