When we get stuck trying to solve a problem, we often feel overly stressed. Stress narrows our vision and then we have a hard time seeing the big picture. Being a confident problem solver is really important for our peace of mind and self-confidence. To solve any problem you need to define it, think of alternatives, evaluate and select an alternative and then act on one of them. If we can bring a creative attitude to our problem then we can relax into seeing the problem from different a perceptive. Reactions on this post

"...Here is our real problem. One of the many costs of denial is paralysis. We are incapable of solving a problem we have decided does not exist. The Republicans, conservatives and massive community of deniers are so determined that climate change is not happening, they cannot see what is coming. They naively believe the future will be just like the past, despite the massive evidence that our Earth is undergoing a dramatic and permanent transformation..." Reactions on this post

Tips for getting out of the negative communication rut from Howard Markman and other experts. Nagging a relationship killer? Perhaps. What to do then? This WSJ article suggests the following:
•Calm down •Look at it from the other person's perspective. •If you are the nagger, realize you are asking for something. •Explain why your request is important to you. •Manage your expectations. •Set a timeframe. •If you are the naggee, give a clear response to your partner's request.

In a moment - taking in her husband's appreciation for her presence on the camping trip, years of concerted effort to transform a good marriage into a great marriage converge.
