8 Ways to Integrate Social Media Into Your Lead Nurturing Campaigns | HubSpot

Excerpted from article intro:

"We often fall into the trap of assuming that lead nurturing is a completely email-driven strategy. But technically, lead nurturing is defined as consistent and targeted communication to move your leads further down the funnel.

So while email has proven to be a very effective tool for this, it is not the only bridge between your company and its leads.

Social media has emerged as an increasingly important part of people’s lives, and the savviest marketers have found ways to integrate it into lead nurturing to build stronger relationships.

To help you establish stronger and more personal relationships with your leads, take a look at these ideas to help you better integrate your lead nurturing and social media marketing.

1) Include social follow widgets in lead nurturing emails.

2) Use social share modules in your emails.

3) Add social calls-to-action to thank-you pages.

4) All together now ... add social widgets in thank-you emails!

5) Initiate a lead nurturing workflow when a lead mentions your company on Twitter.

6) Utilize your employee's social media accounts.

7) Always respond to social inquiries.

8) Monitor for branded terms that may indicate sales readiness.

Each element is analyzed with more information. Read full article here: http://j.mp/JYGmip

Will Social Media replace Search?

"How strong of a role does social media play in search and SEO? Lee Odden’s recent blog post, “Social Media & SEO” talks about how search is now increasingly becoming “social”.

Most content now is sourced from social media (blogs, video, tweets, Facebook posts and images). According to Lee, “All major search engines take data feeds from Twitter and Facebook. In fact, if you compare the search volume numbers shared in this Search Engine Land article, Twitter is the second most popular search engine (Google 88bn, Twitter 18bn, Yahoo 9.4bn, Bin 4.1bn queries per month).".

Social media is about attracting actions and conversations, not shouting at people.
The moral of this story is that social media is about slow and consistent relationship building, where trust is earned over time and dialog is cultivated through an exchange of real value.

Why Google's Venice Update Fundamentally Changes Global SEO

Google's Venice update has caused surprisingly few ripples in the search engine marketing industry given the scale of its impact on search: it's easily as important as Big Daddy from 2006, itself the most significant update made by Google up to that point.

Don't think of it as content, think of it as information

"In order to benefit from digital media and the disruption created by the social web, content companies and publishers have to think differently about what they do, John Borthwick of Betaworks told attendees at paidContent 2012 in New York on Wednesday"

Why? Because thinking about it as information puts more focus on the value or the service rendered to consumers.

Industrial Companies shouldn’t Replace Email Marketing with Social Media | Industrial Marketing Today

Written by Achinta Mitra...

Yes, social media generates all the buzz but discarding email marketing, a tried and true workhorse would be a mistake and here is why.

Right off the bat let me say that this post is not about email marketing versus social media. However, I’ve had conversations with manufacturers and industrial companies where I am asked if email marketing is still relevant and effective since all the talk these days is about social media. Yes, social media generates all the buzz but discarding email marketing, a tried and true workhorse would be a mistake and here is why.

In a March 2012 online survey of US marketing professionals, trade publication Chief Marketer found that the most popular tool in digital campaigns, according to 78% of the respondents was email marketing followed by Email newsletters (59%) and a close third was social media at 58%.

Here is a chart from emarketer.com showing the growing number of tools used by marketers to improve Website engagement.

7 Ways to Be a Successful Social Marketer

Social marketing is an advertising art that is widely utilized but less widely successful, forcing marketers who are looking for real, measurable results to hone their tactics. Review our list of seven ways to be a successful social marketer to help give you a leg up on the competition!

1. Build strong, targeted social media accounts.

Your social media accounts are only as useful as the friends and followers connected to them, making the first step of building those accounts absolutely crucial. Instead of simply working to obtain as many connections as possible, work instead to connect with like-minded people who are more likely to have an interest in what you have to offer.

Social Media Requires Listening [Research] |

Most marketers don’t pay attention to what consumers are saying.

“You’re not listening to me!” is a popular phrase among teenagers and spouses. Consumers could say the same thing since marketers aren’t much better.

While just over three-quarters of consumers post about products on social media, only two out of five firms have any social media tracking in place at all, according to recent Satmetrix research. Broken out by business focus: 51% of B2B have no tracking compared with 22% of B2C companies surveyed.

Overly Complex or a World of Choice - Options for Social Media Marketing

Chas Begley: This excellent infographic was explained on Business Insider as demonstrating how complicated and confusing social media marketing has become.

However I prefer to look at it in a more positive way and believe it demonstrates how many choices, options and tools the marketer has at his disposal.

The only questions that are important is which of those choices offer the best way to reach you target audience.
