Excerpted from article intro: "We often fall into the trap of assuming that lead nurturing is a completely email-driven strategy. But technically, lead nurturing is defined as consistent and targeted communication to move your leads further down the funnel. So while email has proven to be a very effective tool for this, it is not the only bridge between your company and its leads.
Social media has emerged as an increasingly important part of people’s lives, and the savviest marketers have found ways to integrate it into lead nurturing to build stronger relationships.
To help you establish stronger and more personal relationships with your leads, take a look at these ideas to help you better integrate your lead nurturing and social media marketing.
1) Include social follow widgets in lead nurturing emails. 2) Use social share modules in your emails. 3) Add social calls-to-action to thank-you pages. 4) All together now ... add social widgets in thank-you emails! 5) Initiate a lead nurturing workflow when a lead mentions your company on Twitter. 6) Utilize your employee's social media accounts. 7) Always respond to social inquiries. 8) Monitor for branded terms that may indicate sales readiness.
Each element is analyzed with more information. Read full article here: http://j.mp/JYGmip

"How strong of a role does social media play in search and SEO? Lee Odden’s recent blog post, “Social Media & SEO” talks about how search is now increasingly becoming “social”.
Most content now is sourced from social media (blogs, video, tweets, Facebook posts and images). According to Lee, “All major search engines take data feeds from Twitter and Facebook. In fact, if you compare the search volume numbers shared in this Search Engine Land article, Twitter is the second most popular search engine (Google 88bn, Twitter 18bn, Yahoo 9.4bn, Bin 4.1bn queries per month).".

A few days ago I posted hurriedly the splendid news that the Office of Medical and Scientific Justice had been able to organize witnesses and defending lawyers to achieve a signal success against the HIV/AIDS true-believers and the misguided belief that “HIV-positive” individuals present a danger to their sexual partners.
An Army sergeant was acquitted despite admitting that he had not informed several women of his status as “HIV-positive” before they engaged in consensual condom-protected sexual intercourse. The crucial point: there was reasonable doubt as to whether the sergeant was “infected with HIV” because

Robin Good: In an ocean of possibly relevant information, what interests us most beyond the infinite stories and gossip inside our social graph, is what is relevant and close to our own specific interests. Excerpted from Bari's blog at Netsquared: "It seems we may finally be ready to acknowledge that we are already too bloated to gorge on what the Internet can and will feed us non-stop if we let it. Like my two-year old son, I am forced to accept that I will have to get some structure and discipline in my life (online). And like my son, I may at first resist that structure, in my case due to some vague but deep-seated notions of freedom, liberty, democracy and whatnot. But at the end of the day, I know it’s good for me. Might I actually like the structured rabbit hole with some guiding lights on its walls? It does give me some sense of control and direction about where I am going." Social marketing is an advertising art that is widely utilized but less widely successful, forcing marketers who are looking for real, measurable results to hone their tactics. Review our list of seven ways to be a successful social marketer to help give you a leg up on the competition! 1. Build strong, targeted social media accounts. Your social media accounts are only as useful as the friends and followers connected to them, making the first step of building those accounts absolutely crucial. Instead of simply working to obtain as many connections as possible, work instead to connect with like-minded people who are more likely to have an interest in what you have to offer. Although this article is off-topic for journalists + social media, it’s quite an important topic for journalists to consider. APIs are an important part of social media applications -- if you can write code, you can harness APIs for journalism uses.
“The usual definition of computer literacy stops at the UI: If a user knows how to make the machine work, he or she is computer-literate. But, of course, the deeper literacy of the programmer is far more powerful.”

So how can a small business owner, book author, entrepreneur or expert make the most of this new marketing tool? Here are ten ways you can use Pinterest to promote with pictures -- all in a non-hype, customer-friendly, low-key, value-added way.
From the article.
Pinterest is a lifestyle brand that allows you to create a visual online pinboard, organized around topics of your choice, by category. For example: I'm a certified chocoholic, so I started a Pinterest board last week on dark chocolates I love -- featuring photos of said delicacy accompanied by a hopefully mouthwatering description. Seventy percent of the site's visitors are women age 25-44, and they spend an average of 15 minutes looking around. If that does not make a small business mind sit up and take notice, nothing will.
