Using Technology Doesn’t Make You Innovative – George Couros – Medium

Using Technology Doesn’t Make You Innovative – George Couros – Medium | Zentrum für multimediales Lehren und Lernen (LLZ) | Scoop.it
If a classroom gets iPads, a question you will often hear immediately is, “What apps should I download?” In our concern for machines taking over education, we often do things that encourage machines to take over our teaching. I have been privy to seeing many educators use “flashcard” apps with students, not because they see it as a better process, but because they feel they need to justify iPads in their classroom by using them (the device) in some way with their students. This is often because devices are thrust onto educators without much thought and support on what is possible to do with them and how this aligns with the vision of the community.

I always ask educators to think, “What could you create with this iPad that you couldn’t create before?” Focusing on what we can “create” versus what we “consume” only, is a great starting point. It is not that consumption and content isn’t important. It is just that both consumption and creation should be evident in education for true deep learning.

Valentina Duque's curator insight, August 15, 10:40 AM

I consider really important to take into account technology as part of our teaching methodologies. Nowadays, technology can not be let behind, since it has advanced considerably we can not isolate it from education. As a matter of fact, technology is a powerfull tool that can contribute positively if we plan how to use it correctly in order to benefit our learners.

Considerably it has advanced, reason why lots of teachers are afraid to use it.It is sometimes a big responsability and also, it is something that demands training and a lot of practice. However, we have to be conscious of this necessity to implement teaching sessions through technology, in order to guarantee to learners an updated and renewed educational system; besides, it would impact positively in our current  technological society and culture.

Ultimately teachers strive to help their students 'learn how to learn'.  This is the topic of a free online course from Coursera.

Carlos Fosca's curator insight, July 30, 7:57 PM

Abb. 1).[1]

‘Adaptive’ Should Be Your Mantra While Creating Moodle Content

‘Adaptive’ Should Be Your Mantra While Creating Moodle Content | Zentrum für multimediales Lehren und Lernen (LLZ) | Scoop.it
Adaptive (content), Adaptive (assessment), Adaptive (sequence). This inhale-exhale exercise also doubles as a learning content creation technique. A guest post on the Blackboard blog details the elements that make for great adaptive approaches in educational design. Not only do they make for more flexible experiences, they help optimize the work of adaptive systems and services for Moodle and other LMS.

Evidence in favor of technology-based approaches that take personal variables, especially skill levels into account, keeps growing. With the help of tools such as IADLearning’s, students are set on a learning track that responds to their performance and interests in real time. These tools make sure students find content that’s challenging and interesting, seemingly the ideal combination for best (and fastest) performance according to research.

10 Ways to Create the Classroom of the Future

10 Ways to Create the Classroom of the Future | Zentrum für multimediales Lehren und Lernen (LLZ) | Scoop.it
While educational standards may differ from school to school there is one thing that is always nearly the same: the classroom set out. Desks are arranged in rows or groups, and the teacher stands at the front and teach. This set out has changed very little in a hundred years even with all the technological advancements that have been made. Edtech not only changes the way that children learn but changes the way they interact with one another, the classroom space and their teacher. Things need to change if classrooms are to meet the needs of the modern learner. Below …
