A look at the other side of the coin! In this video, popular YouTuber David DiFranco debunks the common myth about separating unrelated content into different YouTube channels. I agree with some of what David is saying here but I also think that this theory should not be applied across the board.
In other words, there are lots of YouTube channels that are losing subscribers because they upload unrelated videos. David has the "kid next store" kind of personality that most of his audience cares to see what he is doing - even if it's not tech related. OR they just skip the unrelated videos (like I do) because we know that something we are interested in will be uploaded soon. For example I would not watch David's "camping" video but there is no way I'm going to unsubscribe from his channel.
When a passion or a personal project inspires a business, it's bound to have good results for like-minded people. That's what was behind a series of Røde Microphones designed originally for the non-professional consumer market, yet has become a world-wide tool for videography at all levels as the capabilities of digital cameras themselves blur the line between consumer and professional use. In this interview with Scott Emerton, Marketing Manager of Røde Microphones, I learned how Røde Microphones founder and president, Peter Freedman, set about creating a microphone for video recording that would suit his taste after getting frustrated from the poor audio coming out of a DV camera he was using to film his son's rugby game. Being unable to find anything on the market at a reasonable price and meant for this kind of camera, he used his own expertise and company resources to create what he considered to be a suitable external microphone for these cameras. When DSLR cameras appeared wit
Last week Vine made a pretty big update that went unnoticed by many, but to me it feels like a big move that places it more on par to have videos that are more sharable and can reach a much broader audience than ever before. It's not really directly competing with YouTube yet giving it's specific niche in highly consumable video content, but it's certainly a platform to start exploring for your own online video efforts.
Ileane Smith's insight:
After seeing this, I decided to give Vine a try. If you're over there be sure to follow me!!
Today in this guide we'll show you how you can convert the video formats with the helps of VLC video Player. Now no need to download the big converter application or buy any third party app to convert video files.
Ileane Smith's insight:
VLC is a really handy utility. I don't typically like downloading apps onto my computer but this one is more than worth it. It's open source software too.
Most of us think of YouTube captions as an accessibility feature for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. However, studies show that 80% of people who use captions for very different reasons that actually lead to increased audience engagement, higher audience retention, more YouTube likes, comments, and more!
I talked with Tole Khesin of Captions For YouTube about why that is and how we can take advantage of YouTube captions for our own videos.
Ileane Smith's insight:
I wish there was an easy way to create video captions but the truth of the matter is that it takes work - unless you want to pay someone.
