As a rule, don’t compare your YouTube stats, to those of other YouTubers. Set realistic goals for your channel and only make comparisons with yourself. Otherwise, you might get discouraged when you see others racking up numbers on one single video that you can’t muster across your entire channel!
The other day I watched a video where the guy was telling people to copy all of their tags and paste them at the bottom of the video description. I found out awhile ago that there’s really no need to do that because clearly YouTube/Google has no problem reading the tags in the first place. Repeating them is not only redundant but it might also hurt your standings in YouTube search. I took this snippet of text right out of YouTube Creators Playbook
"Reminder: It is a violation of YouTube’s Terms of Service to use misleading metadata and blocks of keywords in your description field."
I’m sure this fellow meant well but I sure hope he reads this post and doesn’t get his channel banned.

A look at the other side of the coin! In this video, popular YouTuber David DiFranco debunks the common myth about separating unrelated content into different YouTube channels. I agree with some of what David is saying here but I also think that this theory should not be applied across the board.
In other words, there are lots of YouTube channels that are losing subscribers because they upload unrelated videos. David has the "kid next store" kind of personality that most of his audience cares to see what he is doing - even if it's not tech related. OR they just skip the unrelated videos (like I do) because we know that something we are interested in will be uploaded soon. For example I would not watch David's "camping" video but there is no way I'm going to unsubscribe from his channel.
When it comes to sound gear (like many things), you tend to get what you pay for. Quality microphones and recorders tend to be a little more costly, though there is certainly a price/cost ratio the higher you go....

Thumbnails are the most important aspect of any video’s release, other than the content itself. This is because thumbnails, in combination with titles, are often the biggest deciding factor in whether or not a person will click to watch a video.Due to their overwhelming importance, we at Frederator have put together a guide for creating thumbnails that details the principles and tactics we use when crafting our own thumbnails. These are insights gained from conversations with creators, reading the YouTube Playbook, and countless experiments with various design types, all while measuring the click through rates and performance of our thumbnails through YouTube's TrueView advertising. The Main GoalThe main goal for our thumbnails is to get our audience, and new audiences, to view our content and then go on to watch more of our content. We have found that there are three main guiding principles that allow us to achieve this goal. The Three PrinciplesThe three guiding principles Frederator uses for making clickable thumbnails are:

YouTube comments. For lots of people this is single-handedly the best and worst thing about YouTube. YouTube commenters are vicious. They will say anything and everything. People could call this trolling depending on what the end result these commenters are wishing to get out of their comments. Comments could be considered virtual word-of-mouth, both positive and negative, but from my YouTube experience most comments are very negative.Read more at http://www.business2community.com/video-marketing/wistia-versus-youtube-pros-cons-video-platforms-0890882#rBiLYkXYjuwUaA1A.99

Great video +dottotech you're so right about the benefits of using YouTube playlists. You mentioned that some people used to add intros - we used to be able to create those short intros in the YouTube editor but they got rid of that feature. It was very buggy so I guess it was for the best. I'm now using Animoto to make the playlist intros like I did with this Canva Tutorial Playlist that I curated. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNaEwbQaxEWC-ijIGhCpJIyJoAiS3GX2B I love that YouTube is including playlists in our analytics reports now too. Thanks for the tips!
