WVA Board considers student sportsmanship policy

Many coaches understand the importance of sportsmanship, but some don't understand why the Board of Education wants to create a policy to mandate student conduct, which requires a faculty member or administrator, preferably a vice principal, attend all home athletic games, and that all unsportsmanlike acts be reported to administration.

Honor and Integrity - Adirondack Rangers Blog

Honor and Integrity - Adirondack Rangers Blog | Youth Coaching Ethics on Sports | Scoop.it

"No words can hurt a team, or a player, more than the addition of “no” in front of the word “Honor” and” poor” in front of the word “integrity.”  In our sport of airsoft, Honor and Integrity make up Sportsmanship. No honor and Poor Integrity equals Poor Sportsmanship. Good Sportsmanship means everything to those who have it and Poor Sportsmanship haunts those who have lost it.

In a sport where Honor and Integrity have a unique meaning between players and teams, the ability of players to trust those..."

MaryGrace Balaban's curator insight, January 14, 2014 8:37 PM

In a society saturated scandal, fraud, and misconduct, we pay little attention to entities that promote qualities like honor in their game. This refreshingly competitive, yet integrity-bound does just that.

An awesome article about the airsoft community.

John Gahley's curator insight, January 22, 2015 10:15 PM

The opening couple lines say it all.  They talk about airsoft, but the principle applies throughout all sports.

FC Barcelona - world class in every way

FC Barcelona - world class in every way | Youth Coaching Ethics on Sports | Scoop.it

THE bonds of friendship between Celtic and Barcelona have been further strengthened this season following the two meetings in the UEFA Champions League. And Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has praised the Catalan club for their class, both on and off the park.

He said: “It is extremely important that we mention our opponents and our guests last night, FC Barcelona. The sign of true class is not how you win, but how you lose and last night they demonstrated that perfectly.

“Throughout their visit to Glasgow and indeed across both Champions League matches they have demonstrated courtesy, co-operation, professionalism and sportsmanship of the highest order

“Over a number of years, we are delighted that FC Barcelona have become our true friends and we are very grateful that the directors and players of Barca have been part of our 125th anniversary celebrations.
