According to a recent study in the Annals of Internal Medicine, a low-carbohydrate diet may actually be better for weight loss than a traditional low-fat diet, and have the added bonus of reducing the risk of heart disease.

Sugar, the "recreational drug" (from Dr Mark Hyman) is in practically every processed food you can eat or do eat. Many people know by know that refined sugar and its alternative substitutes are toxic to the human body.  For many people consuming sugar is a death sentence as sugar and high glycemic index foods  (a rating system that measures blood sugar response to certain foods)  trigger the release of extra insulin into the bloodstream. Excess blood sugar creates a "browning" as in baked goods. This "browning" is called Glycation, which is in tissues and organs in your body. This glycation generates large amounts of free radicals and inflammation. Glycation accelerates the wrinkling of the skin, the aging of organs and tissues, and lessens blood circulation to all parts of the body, especially the eyes. 

 

The increase in metabolic diseases such as diabetes is a direct result of the massive consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates (processed foods that have  beneficial fiber removed).

Health Tip: If you are addicted to refined sugar and even organic sugar, stop buying processed foods. If you're healthy, eat a mostly plant based "live-t",exercise, and feel younger than you're age, then eat sugar sparingly. Maybe once a month. Or do as this curator does and completely eliminate sugar. Eat organic fruit. Your taste buds will adapt so that you can taste what real food is supposed to taste like. And you will be healthy and experience zestful living.

moderation & skip refined&processed food- I love to binge on greek olives, crumbled feta- those little pea sprouts& pistachio nuts;) if I need sugar- I will eat frozen berries (more nutritious-the blueberries) w/ some organic maple syrup-  a spoonful of almond butter is also a good way to fill up:)
