Franklyn Perez's insight:

I think it's incredible that someone would invest about $200,000 in the sheer belief and faith in a particular artist to gain sales.

Pros: He was able to make that much money before he even officially released the album.

He was able to secure a good profit from his album, taking into the consideration the possibilty of losing money. Seeing as how its harder to make money with music now that the way of buying and listening to it has changed.

Cons: The fact that Samsung was the only buyer for those millions of copies, Jay-z was not eligible for those sales, in turn unclarifying the number of consumers of his product.

Like the tittle says, it will change music like never before just because anybody has smart phones theses days. And for people to get it for free, it something we love. Music for free thats legal. But then again i feel like its taking away from hip-hop more because in a few years compact disc just maybe obsolete.

Dremond Bethel's curator insight, October 12, 2014 7:10 PM

Here, this article explains how Jay-Z gave away his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail through an app on Google Play store. It also explains how the evolution of apps may continue. Maybe artist and labels won't rely on stores, instead use Google Play store and sell apps.
