Netti pursuaa nykyisin avoimia resursseja, joista koostaa oma oppimispolkunsa: huippuyliopistojen MOOC -kursseja, briljantteja esityksiä (TED, RSA-Animate) jne. Tulevaisuudessa kasvava trendi tulee olemaan näiden resurssien luova yhdisteleminen.

4 Reasons That I'm Your Tweep - Edudemic

4 Reasons That I'm Your Tweep - Edudemic | Universities & Social Media | Scoop.it

When colleagues, who know I am on Twitter, ask about it the first question is always “why?”. After expounding on the benefits that a PLN brings the next question is inevitably “who?”. The people I follow is been a rather short list – one that has changed since I began this process. Whenever I stop following someone it has only confirmed for me why I follow others. So why am I your Tweep / why do I follow you on Twitter?

Rebecca Haas's curator insight, February 19, 2014 1:35 PM

This article makes a lot of valid points that can be used in every day on twitter, and in life in general! First impressions are as important on Twitter, and I think that is something many young professionals may overlook in interview and online. Also, I think many people follow their friends on Twitter, even if they are unrelated to their professional career, which can crowd their feed with social related things, rather than tweets related to education. This article also shows that it is possible to use your tweets outside of the Twitter realm, just by presenting your tweets on other social media sites! This seems to be a great checklist for the young professional, helping us utilize a site we most likely already frequent, but enabling us to turn it into a career-helping venue.

Ryan McDonough's curator insight, July 7, 2014 8:19 AM

Self explanatory visual on the benefits of gaming as a means of learning. Outlined are the rewards, mastery, engagement, intensity, exercise, readiness, and competitiveness. These types of graphics need to be displayed in the classroom. There's always parents who are unsure of how gaming qualifies as teaching. Can't they just sit their kid in front of an iPad all day at home? Well, in the appropriate setting, with the right direction and guidance, games are certainly good for learning. Some people just don't know that from experience yet.

The flipped academic: turning higher education on its head

The flipped academic: turning higher education on its head | Universities & Social Media | Scoop.it
Education models are turning inside out. First came the concept of the 'flipped classroom' in schools: pupils completing course material ahead of lessons to free up time with their teachers and apply the knowledge they have just learned. Now a related philosophy is developing in higher education. Can we also flip academics – or even academia itself?

Alex Bruton, associate professor in innovation and entrepreneurship at Mount Royal University in Canada, thinks so. The 'flipped academic', as he sees it, is an academic who informs first and publishes later, seeking usefulness as well as truth in their research and striving to publish only after having had an impact on students and society.

Mike Truong's curator insight, December 11, 2012 12:06 PM

I love the idea of the flipped academic, "publish only after having had an impact on students and society."  Our current model allows so much stuff to be published that doesn't really have any impact on students or society.  It reminds me of the idea of action research.

UmeaMan's comment, December 11, 2012 8:15 PM
I love the flipped model and I try to introduce it into Chinese K-12 settings, to help headteachers and teachers to implement it.But I found that there are a lot obstacles: such as change courages of teachers, teachers'competencies to create online videos, students' self-regulation etc. Do you have any suggestions and advices? Thanx.
