Following a barrage of fury-fuelled eruptions, Labour MP and chairman of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee Ian Davidson has agreed to be filmed as he completes a series of tasks set by his anger management counsellor.

This week, in an effort to regain the confidence of his counsellor, Ian is to take charge of the Royal Mile-based china shop, Dainty Delights, a confined space with a large selection of breakable objects, and report back on his progress.

The Mayor of Newham and an uncomfortable moment on Radio Scotland #YesScot #IndyRef #Bettertogether #Bittertogether

By a Newsnet reporter An article in the Guardian newspaper on Friday drew attention to the difficulty faced by the BBC when it comes to mixing politics and sport.  The piece centred on a 20 minute appearance on a BBC Radio Chat Show by UK PM David Cameron...

Then later on BBC Scotland..Labour Mayor of Newham Robin Wales was interviewed

Throughout the interview, Wales was allowed to make his political points unchallenged as Gary Robertson, a man not usually known for his reticence in stepping in to challenge politicians, stayed silent.

This pluralist Yes campaign is a new kind of politics - National Collective

This pluralist Yes campaign is a new kind of politics - National Collective | YES for an Independent Scotland | Scoop.it

"Here’s hoping that our open, pluralist and grassroots campaign can convince the public otherwise.

Everybody understands that a No vote isn’t a vote for change, and who’s going to go out and campaign for everything to stay the same when we’ve got a trashed economy, rising inequality and an apparently unreformable political system?

Scottish Labour were left floundering. Despite their tentative efforts to reform, that confused self-importance continues to define them. Davidson’s televised explosion was an appropriate reminder that their arrogance has spilled into the independence debate"

Is Gordon Brown a Scottish Nationalist? - Spectator Blogs

Is Gordon Brown a Scottish Nationalist? - Spectator Blogs | YES for an Independent Scotland | Scoop.it

"there cannot be a Britain without Scotland."

If the English Question, whose only answer is an English Parliament, is not discussed during the Scottish Independence debate then the debate will develop into the British Question, whose only answer is dissolution. Thus by denying the debate, Unionists may in effect end up supporting the Scottish Nationalist approach to gaining independence and witness the death throes of the United Kingdom.

"What about the other side of the debate? Well we had that nice man Alistair Darling and he had tea and home baking provided by his wife at his flat in Pilton - it is Pilton Alastair stays in isn’t it? [LAUGHTER] - along with comrade McLetchie, wee Dougie Alexander and somebody I’ve never heard of from the Lib Dems but he’s probably never heard of me either. This was followed by the launch of the Better Together campaign at Napier University, where we got treated to the stirring rhetoric of the said Mr Darling, and then Annabel Goldie playing Mrs Merton, interviewing ‘normal Scots’ about what’s important about the beloved union. Why any self-respecting ‘normal Scot’ would want to speak to Annabel Goldie I’ve no idea. But em…in the PR war that is the referendum campaign, I’m afraid from both sides we’re going to be treated to more of this stuff and it’s going to be a long journey to 2014. " Neil Findlay

Cameron must clarify party position after Scots Tory attack on renewables...

SNP MSP John Wilson has written to Prime Minister David Cameron calling on him to clarify his party's position on renewables following Struan Stevenson's outburst. Mr Wilson is the Deputy Convener of Holyrood's Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee.

"This is a disgraceful attack on jobs and investment by the Tories. Scotland has massive renewables potential with about a quarter of Europe's offshore wind and tidal power and a tenth of its wave power.

"That natural windfall is delivering much needed jobs and investment to communities the length and breadth of Scotland and the UK. Not content with the appalling damage they are doing to the economy, the Tories apparently now want to scrap renewables jobs too.

Front-runner in 2012 Letter Of The Year Olympics? | YES for an Independent Scotland | Scoop.it
This concise thoughtful letter by Labour MP, Michael Meacher, was first published in The Guardian two months ago (2nd May 2012) but is still doing the social media rounds.

"The annual Sunday Times Rich List yields four very important conclusions for the governance of Britain (Report, Weekend, 28 April). It shows that the richest 1,000 persons, just 0.003% of the adult population, increased their wealth over the last three years by £155bn. That is enough for themselves alone to pay off the entire current UK budget deficit and still leave them with £30bn to spare."

Our Founding Principles

We are an open and diverse network of women who support independence for Scotland and will work with others for a Yes vote in the referendum.
We will ensure that there will be a space for women’s voices and interests in the campaign.
Independence will create opportunities for women to engage in developing a fully democratic vision for Scotland’s future. Women should play a central role in achieving independence.

"We intend to play a role in developing a new politics, one in which the needs and interests of women are better represented and considered. The more we blethered and cogitated, the more we realised that if we can deliver, our efforts could result in a very different politics in independent Scotland.

The going to work, the keeping of houses, the raising of weans, the paying of bills, the reading of celebrity magazines, the lying awake worrying about the finances, the washing of clothes, the tidying of toys, the caring of parents, the treading of gym mills, the watching of Saturday night telly. The everyday stuff which keeps our worlds ticking over and which leaves precious little energy or time or inclination to ponder the pros and cons of a one or two question referendum."

The Strange Death of Tory England - Gerry Hassan

The future holds the prospect of the Tories increasingly becoming a ‘zombie party’: one more and more divorced from reality and shaped by its own partisan obsessions. This will entail embracing an unapologetic and dogmatic, failed Anglo-American capitalism which does not deliver for most people, instead producing middle class mass anxiety, widespread poverty and exclusion, and an entitlement culture in the super-rich.
