I really like this article because it has positive things about   year round school but at the same time it has negative side  about year around school. Y think this is really good because the Arthur can give you to points of view. This article  at the big inning  shows a graph and i think that's good because it shows you what is  going to talk abut  and it also shows pictures and I think article that have visuals are very  good .

CCSS Writing Lesson: Arguing the School Calendar

CCSS Writing Lesson: Arguing the School Calendar | Year round school | Scoop.it

It’s easy to get students writing an argument when they are passionate about a subject and who is not passionate about the school calendar? Just open up the discussion on year round schools or what religious holidays will be observed can spark a debate. Adjusting the school calendar for emergency days adds the complexity of previous plans and often emotions run high.

With the recent Hurricane on the East Coast, many schools have been closed to two full weeks. Why not have your students do some critical thinking and problem solving around the topic of Emergency School Closings?

Dominic Ganley's insight:

This is a great source to get information from, because it comes from a school website, and has age appropriate language. This is a role model article, because it is an essay, that can give examples of how to do a hook, a conclusion, etc. This website, gives links to other websites, and the author, goes to both positions, and explains each one. There is proper spelling and grammar, and there are strong opinions that make you think about the topic.

This source is useful because it gives many convincing reasons about this topic. Also, this article comes from a parent website, and parents always want the best for their children. Also, this website has a list of parent guides, books  and even videos of school. This article also includes a lot of statements of year round school. I also like how the  article includes a bunch more useful websites.

The AJC has an interesting story today on the reconsideration of year-round school schedules where students have a shortened summer -- around five weeks.

Dominic Ganley's insight:

This article is very good because the author went to both sides, to the positive, (yes, there should be year round school). Also to the negative, (there should not be year round school). It has good grammar and spelling, that means that the author put a lot of work into that. The language and vocabulary is appropriate for 6th grade students.

Do not forget to read the comment section on this article.  A possible option for working families is school aged child care during the three week break.  In addition, classes are set up during intersession for students who may be having a difficult time learning.  A great benefit!

Dominic Ganley's insight:

This is a very good website because it has a lot of criteria. For example, a video talking about different opinions of considering a year round school.  It has the correct level  of vocabulary and language., it shares stories about some events happening in a year round school and  it uses  proper grammar and spelling.

This source is really useful because it has very good reasons of why it is good, for example a mom wanted his kid to go to year round school, because he had trouble reading and writing, also they said that the kids feel happy that they finally could accomplish their goal of improving there reading skills and writing skills. This makes you think about it.
