Crystal Miller's insight:

From looking at the Picture, I see Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchhill in 1945. They all are playing as "doctors, working together to heal the world" says in Source. In the photo they was all very happy in being successful in defeating "Hilter and Fascism". They were the Big Three that was happy and United as one ! Basically the "war is shown poorly but is getting better" (The big ball on the bed). The 3 doctors are just checking over the world to make sure things are going well. And so the British People can trust the Big "3" to "restore the happiness of the world". Which is all a big game in the end....

Primary Source: Yalta Conferences

The Conferences at Yalta and Potsdam

Crystal Miller's insight:

This is a Bibliography about the Yalta Conferences between Churchhill, Stalin, & Roosevelt. The first image you see on the left in the Primary Source is Churchhill, Stalin, & Roosevelt "at the meeting in Yalta before the end of the war". That was going to be the last meeting they will ever have together because Roosevelt died in April. Also during the Potsdam meeting, Churchhill was voted out the Primary Minister. The Potsdam and the Yalta Conferences was the 2 most very important meetings during WW2. The only 3 Major countries that had power was the Soviet Union, Great Britian, and the United States. One group coming to the Conference meeting was the Soviet Union, and they "held the strongest military position in Europe. To the picture you would have to go to the Website and you will see the First Picture w/ all 3 Men (Churchhill, Stalin, & Roosevelt sitting down).

Connections to The Yalta Conference

Crystal Miller's insight:

"The Paris Peace Conference at JHUMUNC 2014 will serve as a re-imagining of the noteworthy convention of both Allied and Axis nations after the end of World War II." This Connects with the Peace conference in 1945, because this meeting of the Paris Peace conference was tooken place in 1946. Right after Roosevelt passed away and Churchhill Voted out of the Prime Minister.

Crystal Miller's insight:

The Cartoon was from: "American cartoonist Paul Plaschke appeared in the Chicago Tribune, shortly after the Yalta   Conference." In the picture it looks like Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchhill are all playing Poker. The Big GAINT man is Stalin and the other two is Churchhill and Roosevelt. In this picture Stalin looks mean and by the looks he is going to be taking over China as well as India. Now i could be wrong but I think Stalin is basically trying to put his point across in the photo and play as Europe is going to take over the other countries because he already has Europe in his hands. Basically the Yalta was all for the Soviet Union, and Stalin is winning very easily. Based off the picture Stalin is trying to play a game over on Roosevelt and Churhhill, and they both are confused.

Janet Franco's curator insight, February 27, 2014 11:36 AM

On february 11, 1945 a week of intensive bargaining by the leaders of three major Allied powers ends in Yalta, a Soviet resort town on the Black Sea. The war had progressed mightily since their last meeting, which had taken place in Tehran in late 1943. Churchill and Stalin were more intent on dividing Europe into zones of political influence than in military considerations. Germany would be divided into four zones of occupation. The Soviets were to administer those European countries they liberated but promised to hold free elections.
