Roberto Ivan Ramirez's curator insight, February 25, 11:16 AM

MOOCs and executive education classrooms can be squared?
Ramón Talavera's insight:

I think that the author'sr last paragraph explains why MOOCs are so controversial:

"Even if MOOCs end up being an additional learning resource, as a new class of textbooks, they seem to have managed to have woken up schools to a debate long overdue in higher education: how can teaching models at schools be reviewed and improved to develop professionals with better skills to meet the challenges of the complex modern world."

A MOOC Mystery: Where Do Online Students Go?

A MOOC Mystery: Where Do Online Students Go? | MOOCs, SPOCs, and the like... | Scoop.it
In its first few years, the open-online education model appears to have earned an incomplete, at best.
Ramón Talavera's insight:

I didn't agree with the first part of this article because it compares MOOCs with GED.  Audiences and goals are totally different in each one of these learning experiences so the comparison between they both does not make sense. The article should've compared MOOCs with other undergrad or graduate online courses. Then  apples are compared with apples and not with pears.
