Daniel Preston's curator insight, January 18, 6:38 AM

By closing these stores WalMart have impacted their human resource department negatively. Thousands of job losses and rotations would have caused disruption and communication issues within their workforce.

Furthermore by closing these stores and focusing on online sales they are hoping to become more competitive.

They will have access to a wider audience. Many will be aware of WalMart but may have struggled to purchase from them. However the increasing use of ecommerce has allowed customers to access them easier.

They plan to increase spending on ecommerce to allow this to be the reality and to increase their sales growth across different states and countries.

This will make them more competitive in areas where before sales would have been minimal.
