The Discipline of Writing - Owner Magazine

The Discipline of Writing - Owner Magazine | writting | Scoop.it

Many professionals recognize that blogging is a great way to develop their ideas and enhance their personal brand. But when you’re busy, writing even once a week can seem overwhelming. How can you find time to sit down and actually compose something worthwhile? I have a slightly unfair advantage: I started my career as a journalist and had to report and write 3500 words a week, or I’d get fired. (That’ll teach you to write pretty fast.) But I also have a few tips —writing habits, if you will— that I shared with Noah and they might work for you, too.

Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be.

Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be. | writting | Scoop.it

Curation is a growing need in organizations, and as such, a growing competency for those focused on worker performance. At the same time, the vision of what this competency looks like in practice is cloudy. How will what we do look different when we add curation to our skill sets?

Sure it is!!  Last week I showed my students how to scoopit.  I thought that since they seem to love Facebook, Scoopit was going to be a wow experience for them.  However, contrary to my expectations most of them did not show a real interest, or at least the kind of interest I expected.  What a pain!  Maybe it is a matter of time, culture, love for reading and writing, etc.  From a group of 12 youngers, only 2 of them said:  Thanks teacher, I like it!  Well... I will keep on trying...

AraceliGF's curator insight, February 9, 2014 4:40 AM

Good article on content curation. So important nowadays ,with so much information around us, we need tools to process it (such as netvibes, diigo, delicious, feedly, etc.)

My interfaces to information are not optimized for me. So how about a browser with an adaptive interface that automatically provides pages based on my digital footprint, crowd-wisdom and smart algorithms thus avoiding filter bubbles and social echo-chambers?

More people are running to charity tube to post free videos and watch free videos than posting on you tube. Try posting at charity tube and you will never leave. http://www.africatube.net/ More visitors and more video views. Don't take our word for it, try it. Post one same video on youtube and put it on  http://www.africatube.net/ and return ater five hours and compare the viewers rate and decide for yourself. Create your very own group or forum and control who watch it and invite everyone to watch the video. Above all, post video in English or in any language and viewers can watch video description in their own language. Try it and let us know your experience. Above all it is absolutely free like youtube
