Engaging students is a challenge whether teaching online or face-to-face. In online classes that tend to be text-heavy, this task can be especially difficult. One way to overcome this hurdle is to design project-based learning (PBL) assignments.

I love blogging and getting my students blogging too! I have seen their writing flourish, when they realise they are writing for a larger audience! Their sense of humour, style and unique opinion comes to the fore! Blogs are a wonderful way for young people to share their worldview! Delete the scoop?

It was word processing that pulled me into technology. I recall many English teachers telling me that word processing was going to ruin writing. And so it goes.... Delete the scoop?

Kinda hypocritical, considering there are plenty of punctuation errors in this article.

Poetry is part of a language classroom for many reasons but mostly because poetry is a sign of God's amazing creation, transcending, community building and emotionally resilient. Read nonsense poetry, classical poetry and all different types of poetry and your children will thank you!

Any writing teacher (and most reading teachers) will tell you that poetry is important. Keep it in your classroom!

Come to think of it, sure, we do need poetry, not only at school for that matter.

My thoughts: This article talks about how texting and the new media age may not be as bad of a thing as it is hyped up to be. They have done studies that show the pros and cons. This article shows how although we are using shortcuts to write it is just a way of us adapting; yet people still continue to use proper grammar more often than not. Delete the scoop?
