Turning Customers into Online Advocates | Loyalty360.org

Social media has created a whole new method of customer interaction. While many companies have attempted to hide their heads in the sand, there is no denying that the public is ready to engage with brands online.
Two Pens's insight:

55+ adults (65%) expect Twitter complaints to be addressed by companies. 18+ people, not so much (50%). Point is: if people tweet complaints, deal with them. Otherwise you just make a huge # of customers mad.

How Starbucks uses Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ | Writing for Social Media | Scoop.it
Starbucks is often touted as having an excellent social strategy, so it’s an excellent subject for our series of posts looking at how brands use the four main social networks.
Two Pens's insight:

Excellent case study on Starbucks and its social media activities. They're not super responsive or engaging and could do even better than their already heigh numbers indicate. It would be fun to show them how engagement can really make them shine.

Suggestions for Writers when Contacting Amazon Reviewers

Suggestions for Writers when Contacting Amazon Reviewers | Writing for Social Media | Scoop.it
Not sure how to approach top Amazon reviewers? Here's an inside peek from a Top 10 Hall of Famer!
Two Pens's insight:

Amazon reviews are as necessary for business books as they are for novels, kidlit, paranormal comic books and whatever else people like to read. I like the idea of cultivating Amazon reviewers who read books that are similar to yours, rather than trying to get through to the top 100 Reviewers who are overbooked.

Google+ Is Now The Number Two Social Network In The World | Writing for Social Media | Scoop.it

Reports now show that Google+ has surpassed Twitter in active users and is second only to Facebook.

A new report by Global Web Index shows that Google+ has surpassed Twitter in active users and is second only to Facebook.

Technically YouTube was considered #3 and Twitter came in at #4 by the numbers. Although it is good to note that Twitter is actually the fastest growing of them all, with 40% growthin the last quarter.

Via Lauren Moss, Mau
Two Pens's insight:

Interesting that G+ ranks #2 with so few people actually using it as a network. Shows the power of Google that everybody feel like they have to belong to it but so many don't use it :-) Nobody wants to get left behind.

Texting Isn't Writing, It's Fingered Speech | Wired Business | Wired.com

Texting Isn't Writing, It's Fingered Speech | Wired Business | Wired.com | Writing for Social Media | Scoop.it
All the handwringing by 7th-grade English teachers and parents over the tens of millions of grammatically challenged texts sent every day misses the point of what texting is: it's speech.
Two Pens's insight:

john McWhorter has regular gigs on NPR on language. I listened to his lectures via The Teaching Company on the development of the English language. He's a pro and I agree with his idea that texting is akin to speech, rather than a written language. As John says, every centure mopes about the decline of language but in fact, it's just developing new rules. LOL! (sign of emotive acceptance.)
