Better than meditation

Better than meditation - Better Humans - Medium

"The reason I think free writing is better than meditation, especially for those of us who constantly slip from the practice, is that it includes solid grips on slippery thoughts. The act of typing serves as a hand rail on our thoughts, and occupies a certain part of the brain that generally gets restless and looks for something to do, because it’s already doing something: typing. Disabling that restless squirrel in your brain is the reason why activities like walking, showering, doing the dishes, gardening, etc are all such great activities for stirring up creative thoughts. Free writing has the added benefit of providing a tangible trail of thoughts as they rise up. You’re essentially hitching your subconscious directly to your typing fingers. "

10 Things Highly Intuitive People Do Differently, by Carolyn Gregoire

10 Things Highly Intuitive People Do Differently, by Carolyn Gregoire | A Writer's Notebook | Scoop.it
"Even when we're not at a fork in the road, wondering what to do and trying to hear that inner voice, our intuition is always there, always reading the situation, always trying to steer us the right way. But can we hear it? Are we paying attention? Are we living a life that keeps the pathway to our intuition unblocked? Feeding and nurturing our intuition, and living a life in which we can make use of its wisdom, is one key way to thrive, at work and in life," says Arianna Huffington in her book, 'Thrive.' Our intuition is always there, whether we are aware of it or not. Intuition can serve as a compass and people who are highly connected to their "gut feelings" often do things a little differently, as described in this piece.

Homeless People Read Mean Tweets in This Heartbreaking PSA | A Writer's Notebook | Scoop.it
People reading mean tweets is turning into a PSA genre. Last month, the Canadian Safe School Network took Jimmy Kimmel's hit comedy bit, usually featuring celebrities, and repurposed it as a potent anti-cyberbullying ad. Now, Raising the Roof Canada has upped the ante even further with a stunning and heartbreaking spot about the homeless.

Transcript of Testimony of Oscar Wilde at his Trial

G--Your view, Mr. Wilde, is that the "shame" mentioned here is that shame which is a sense of modesty?
W--That was the explanation given to me by the person who wrote it.  The sonnet seemed to me obscure.
G--During 1893 and 1894 You were a good deal in the company of Lord Alfred Douglas?
W--Oh, yes.
G--Did he read that poem to you?
W--Yes.
G--You can, perhaps, understand that such verses as these would not be acceptable to the reader with an ordinarily balanced mind?
W--I am not prepared to say.  It appears to me to be a question of taste, temperament and individuality.  I should say that one man's poetry is another man's poison! (Laughter.)
