I absolutely love this post. Glen Long starts out by putting blogging into the context of building Ikea furniture: "your writing is the instruction manual for assembling ideas in your reader's' mind."

Some of the best tips from this piece include:

-Conducting a "fortune cookie test," which demonstrates that the main idea of your blogpost is concrete by fitting it into a sentence small enough to be in a fortune cookie.

-Only giving your audience the information that they need to understand  your point. Nothing more, nothing less.

-Always "include the batteries." Don't make your readers go elsewhere for tools they might need to understand your post (like running around looking for batteries that didn't come with your new toy).

How do you go about making sure your blogpost ideas are crystal clear?

"Spreading an idea means getting it from your brain into someone else’s."

Really great read and tips about writing with purpose, meaning and clarity. Even if you're a "great" writer, these tips can help.

Simplifying takes practice. Ask for third party review and perspective from peers before publishing.
