Washington Post From war to Paralympics, US vets compete on ice Washington Post “Sled hockey has done so much for me in terms of teaching me a lot more about life after being injured, how to persevere through things you never thought would happen...
Will Gifford's insight:

Back in Sochi, the Paralympics took place weeks after the winter Olympics. Only this time it was for the disabled. The US and Russia ice hockey Sledge team battled it out. The Retired marine, Sweeney who had lost his legs in Iraq was able to skate around for his country. Losing everything from the waist down made movement hard but he still showed support in the Paralympics. It was interesting to see how people without legs can play hockey. Unfortunately, the US team had their first loss since 2006 against Russia.

Over the weekend, my email was stuffed full of commentary about what would be happening at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which is now underway.
Will Gifford's insight:

This article concerns most of the world. With at least the majority of the population in contact with a cellular device, the Mobile World Congress is announcing the latest and greatest of the cell phone world. With leading companies like Samsung and Android, one major question arises. Who is at the highest peak on the mobile scale? The answer may surprise you. The one company that is a part of the cell phone world actually makes the smallest part to the hand held devices. Qualcom is the leading innovator in the microchips that support the 4G LTE connections and even 3G.

GWEN IFILL: In fact, automatic braking is becoming an option on models around the world.
Will Gifford's insight:

This article is quite remarkable. It talks about how the revolution of cars takes a turn for the better; with automatic breaking systems. The department of transportation is proposing to make automatic breaking systems a mandatory addition to the auto industry. The proposal will be delivered to president Obama by the year 2017 before he leaves office. The whole idea behind the automatic breaking system in cars is based on radar and actually helps the driver avoid accidents. Statistically there are 30,000 fatalities a year and this new addition will cut that by 80 percent.

Warren Buffett's 5 key investing don'ts

1. Don't let world events (like what's happening in Ukraine) affect your investing decisions. Buffett said even if he knew a big war was unavoidable, "I will still be buying stock.
Will Gifford's insight:

I really liked this article for a couple different reasons. First it alluded to world issues and investment purposes while actually giving great financial advice. The five key investing tips were as follows. Do not let what is happening in the world effect your decisions in investing. Number two was to not be discouraged when the stock market is down. The third is that you do not have to be an expert in stocks to gain from the market. Fourth is to abstain from schemes that will give you quick cash. The fifth and final is not to put your money into online accounts.

CNN Tensions high in Ukraine after at least 21 die in fiery clashes CNN "Opposition leaders should take the responsibility for everything happening in the street of Kiev today." Opposition leaders painted their supporters as the victims, not the...
Will Gifford's insight:

A trade pact with the European Nations opened at large protest in Kiev, Ukraine. According to the article, 21 people have died since the protest broke out on Wednesday. Viktor Yanukovych, the President, withdrew from tying in key relations in the West and is favoring Russia. This angered the people of Ukraine and ended with a protest. One of the main reasons for the protest was to call a reformation to the constitution to move the presidential power and distribute it to the parliament. The people of Ukraine are outraged with Yanukovych’s decision in office and the riots continue to break out.
