American's viral 'I quit' video hits home in Taiwan

American's viral 'I quit' video hits home in Taiwan | World | Scoop.it
TAIPEI, Taiwan — An American woman who used a mocking video to quit her job at an animated graphics company here has virally showcased Taiwan’s demanding work conditions, which sometimes mean taking a cot to the office and have even led to death...

Morgan Swann's curator insight, October 8, 2013 1:39 AM

Well, here is an interesting subject. If you haven't seen or heard about the "I Quit' video about a girl who records a video at 4:30 AM at her place of employment to the song "Gone" by Kanye West. In this video she expresses her contempt for her job and quits (all while dancing in various areas of the office.)

It's interesting to not only see how viral videos impact our society, but also how they are able to shed light unto other societal issues outside of the US. When it comes to this young lady, most viewers might scoff at her irresponsibility and lack of appreciation for having landed such a job. Unfortunately, there is a real issue in Taiwan's labor which is vigorous and so demanding that it has even led to deaths! Without this video, some Americans may not be exposed to such matters. I have noticed within my circle of aquaintances, viral videos are much more discussed than current events unless it has to do with celebrities. America's life on the grapevine may lead viewers to discover her dissatisfaction is shared with many workers of the country.

This video may not result in a "How To" video, but goes to show how users really enjoy watching those who are able to put themselves out there. Not only is she confident enough to dance on a video and willingly post it for the world to see, but is also able to stick it to the man in an epic exit. Thank you for the brave living out our wildest fantasies... and uploading them to YouTube.
