A Help for Heroes beer created by three injured veterans has gone on sale in Tesco. The 4.2% abv ale is being sold in 250 stores across the UK priced £1.97 ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Described as a ‘modern and zesty’, it was developed by three Help for Heroes ambassadors Pete Dunning, Daniel Whittingham and Simon Brown, together with Marston’s brewer Genevieve Upton.

Now that growlers are a staple at Milwaukee bars, brewpubs and beer boutiques it's time to come clean on a nagging question: How do you clean a used growler?

The answer is to rinse the bottle with warm water a few times and let the growler dry upside down in a dish rack. Do the same for the cap. Do not use soap or put the growler in a dishwasher with dishwashing soap. The residue can cling to the vessel like the taste of rye in a barrel-aged stout.

The small brewer is on the rise in the United States, no matter what name you refer to it by.

There were roughly 80 brewers in the U.S. in the early 1980s and about 1,600 breweries in America back in 2009. According to the Brewers Association craft beer industry group, there are more than 3,040 breweries in the United States today, with more on the way.

The Brewers Association credits most of that growth to "craft" brewers, which saw sales grow 17.2% in volume and 20% in dollars last year even as the entire beer industry shrank by 1.9% after years of post-recession losses. Meanwhile, “craft” beer's retail value hit $14.3 billion in 2013 after hitting $10 billion for the first time in 2012... [click headline for more]
