A Map of Education Technology Through 2040 [#Infographic]

How will disruptive technology change education?

Via Susan Bainbridge
Treathyl Fox's insight:

"Education is priceless."  It's not a process that should be disrupted.  If technology is disruptive, that's just ignorant!

Information specialists are looking for ways to employ these new technologies in innovative ways.

Jeroen Bottema's curator insight, August 27, 2013 2:08 AM

"

What will education look like in the future?

Considering that 10 years ago very few students carried smartphones, andtablets didn’t even exist, it’s impossible to look 20 or 30 years into the future. It is likely, however, that cloud-based technology will be the foundation for educational technology and that remote, online learning will continue to grow at a faster pace.

Will the developing world catch up with the developed world? Will residential colleges be as popular as they are today? And what about degrees…will they still mean something to employers?"

Treathyl Fox's comment, August 27, 2013 10:09 AM
I'm not a geek or tech type. I should have kept up with the technology revolution, but I didn't. But with respect to what I did learn and derive benefits from? If it's real progress, let it run its course. Don't get in the way and don't try to stop it. "Education is priceless."

Ultimate Blog Challenge | Work From Home | Scoop.it
Treathyl Fox's insight:

Two belles - Michele and Michelle - offer bloggers an opportunity every quarter to promote their blogs by participating in a challenge to publish a post every day.  Maybe for others this is just another day at the home office, but for me a daily post is a challenge.  I've squirmed and backed out, and still not sure of myself.  I post regularly, just not daily.  Other bloggers have participated and just plowed right through!  Sure thankful there are four quarters in the year.  So if I don't work up my courage for April, there's July and October!  Anyway, having cold feet is not contagious.  So anybody interested is invited.

Jonathan Perelman: Content Is King, But Distribution Is Queen

Jonathan Perelman: Content Is King, But Distribution Is Queen | Work From Home | Scoop.it
Buzzfeed's Jonathan Perelman tells us how his company creates content that spreads on the social web. Hint: animals are prominently involved.
Treathyl Fox's insight:

I'm scooping this because I think I should.  I think. (???)  I think I should. (???)  I think.  Well I haven't caught on to BuzzFeed craze (if it is a craze).  But it may be a powerful tool according to Mr. Pereleman.  Besides, I like when people figure out a way to insert a Queen in the game plan.

The queen is the most powerful piece in the game of chess.  Although I don't know how to play chess, somehow the idea of that is very appealing to me.  I can't explain why.  I'm not really a powermonger.  I believe it's because the queen is a woman that even though she's called "powerful", her power (or strength) is in her compassion and gentleness, like Queen Esther.  That's a generalization, of course.  Some women who get to reign can be real bloody heifers, like Jezebel and her daughter, Athaliah!

Anyway scooping and saving this to watch later.  Right now I'm having difficulties with my laptop and getting the Vimeo video to play.  Or maybe it's my browser. (???)  Gotta love technology.  :)

Display Your Google+ Posts as Ads Throughout Google

Display Your Google+ Posts as Ads Throughout Google | Work From Home | Scoop.it
Today, Google announced that Brands who are actively using their Google+ Pages will soon be able to use their status updates to generate display ads which will be displayed across the Google network. Similar to Facebook's Sponsored Stories, viewers will see the ad in a way that's close to how it appeared on the original Google+ timeline. But that's where the similarity ends.
Treathyl Fox's insight:

Mr. Alton who published this article last December (2013) tagged it: Google and AdWords. But it is so much more. When you read (or re-read) this article, latch on to these words: Game Changer, Enormous Reach Potential, and Prepare.  Streamlining the ad posting process are not the exact words in the article, but this Google feature will save business owners and/or their employees a lot of work!

Launching Scoop.it for Google+: authorship and posting to Google+ Company pages

Launching Scoop.it for Google+: authorship and posting to Google+ Company pages | Work From Home | Scoop.it
While some debate whether Google+ is a ghost town or not, the search giant's social network quietly passed the 1 Billion user mark. That's right: 1 Billion people have a Google+ account which is 2x Twitter's user base and only 15% less than Facebook's. Perhaps more importantly, the +1 button is pressed more than 5 million times a day and 340 million of its users are active.
Scoopiteers didn’t need to wait for those metrics to be public to demand that we add Google+ to the Scoop.it’s sharing options: as our platform is a hub to discover, curate and share content to feed your online channels, it’s natural to offer as many distribution options as possible. So today, after integrating  with Facebook profiles and pages, LinkedIn profiles, groups and pages, Twitter and many other social platform such as Wordpress or Tumblr, we’re excited to launch our integration with Google+ with 2 new features:
