Pinterest Shows It Can Compete With Facebook, Twitter

Pinterest Shows It Can Compete With Facebook, Twitter | Work From Home | Scoop.it
Visual-search service Pinterest said it has 150 million users world-wide who log on at least monthly. That means the San Francisco startup has increased its users by half since September 2015.
Treathyl Fox's insight:
Twitter and Facebook were around before Pinterest. My social media experience started out with Facebook. Then Twitter. Then Pinterest. With Facebook and Twitter you could just create a free account. But when Pinterest first began, you had to be “invited” to become a user. I wasn't invited. I begged. It was a brand new platform and looked like fun. I just wanted to be a part of it! :) My account was “screened and checked carefully” and then approved. Whew! This social media site has become incredibly popular. From a business point of view it's no surprise to me that all three platforms are able to engage in some hearty healthy heated competition with each other.

Treathyl Fox's insight:

Combining TWO powerful content-sharing platforms:  Pinterest and Paper.li  ~  Wanted a place to consolidate my Pinterest activity (OR activity from sites where I have published content like HUBPages, Wizzley, Seekyt, Daily Two Cents, Writedge; OR scour Twitter for “best of” Pinterest stuff). Used the Paper.li tool to start publishing a weekly Pinterest digest.   ~ The results are marvelous!

Why Use Google Plus For Your Business: 10 Reasons to Start Right Now! - Postcron Blog

Why Use Google Plus For Your Business: 10 Reasons to Start Right Now! - Postcron Blog | Work From Home | Scoop.it
UPDATE JULY/2013: From now on, you can use your Postcron account to manage your Google+ pages (in addition to Facebook pages, Facebook groups, and Twitter accounts). Google Plus was established in the beginning of 2013 as the second largest social network in the world, having over 500 millon users. However, it seems that in this part of the world, no one’s really started […]
Treathyl Fox's insight:

This article by Josefina Casas, Content Manager & Writer at Postcron.com, was updated July 2013. The information is very useful and the points made are worth keeping in mind if you plan to be an active Google Plusser via page, profile or both. The bit about Google Authorship is not current, but the other tips are good as gold! :)

The bullet point that lays the foundation for the rest of the content which she provided is this: “Google Plus isn’t Facebook. It’s not Twitter either.” Well! So it's not just another pretty face on top of the other pretty faces? This pretty face has brains too!

Take note of the remarks about Hangouts and Google+ Communities.

With 140 character limit you can't help but keep it short.  Keeping it real?  I try.  Keeping them honest?  That's Anderson Cooper's job. :)

This goes to show that Twitter is more than just a piece of social media entertainment but there are systematic ways to use this platform to help increase brand awareness and appeal to your customer network.

Elena Pitic's curator insight, September 10, 2014 8:07 PM

Twitter is a great social media platform for which a company can use in order to create brand awareness. Hence about 250 million people are active on Twitter why not using it for the purpose of creating brand awareness by advertising a company's brand on Twitter. Go where the traffic is!

The 5 Types of Social Followers that Every Business Needs [INFOGRAPHIC]

The 5 Types of Social Followers that Every Business Needs [INFOGRAPHIC] | Work From Home | Scoop.it

When you’re a brand establishing yourself on social platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, in the very early days you’re usually less concerned about who is following you and more about how many...

It’s superficial, of course, but large numbers of followers on Twitter and Likes on your Facebook Page do have provide a level of social proof that makes you more attractive to new followers, and new Likes – when someone sees that you’re already popular, they’re far more likely to make the leap and get on board themselves.

But for businesses looking to maximize the ROI of their social media strategy, how many is always far, far less important than who. Pretty soon you realise that a big number is meaningless unless it’s actually converting into brand awareness, website footfall and sales – so who should you be looking to attract?

Early adopters, social sharers and power-users are all pivotal in helping your brand reach critical max, but they’re not alone. Indeed, lurkers and even haters can become powerful influencers if you take the time to engage and inspire them.

This infographic takes a look at the five types of social follower that every business needs...

Where content curation traffic comes from and 4 ways to increase yours

Guillaume Decugis

Treathyl Fox's insight:

Informative blog post by Guillaume Decugis, Co-Founder & CEO of Scoop.it. The graphs are an excellent visual representation to help figure out where to focus your efforts to increase traffic and the content curation tips to get more traffic really do work. For me, it has not been a case of the "blind leading the blind" but rather very generous experienced and knowledgeable entrepreneurs inviting to come along for the ride. Scoop.it and Google Plus both invited me to use their tools, test them out and grow with them. This experience has been very rewarding. Not sure if it is as good for them as it is for me. :)  But glad to have been permitted to take an active part in the development process.  My plan to continue both of these productive and profitable relationships.

Twitter cards are your new best friend for increasing visibility and engagement. Simple to add to you site but very effective. Find out how to set them up… - Aaron Charlie - Google+
Treathyl Fox's insight:

Awesome social media tip. A few lines of HTML code and voila! Twitter Card right on your web page. Sort of gives it a makeover and transforms the ugly ducking into a beautiful swan. A beautiful swan that will have more of a chance of being seen. Because after all, what good is an invisible beautiful swan?  Hook ups have to happen!
