I was all over the place yesterday, shoving site elements around, and I finally got those frustrating excerpts to show like I wanted them to... except, I needed longer excerpts than the 50 or so words that were showing, and when I'd lengthed the limit, WP had stripped the HTML. Ohhh, frustration abounds... or would have, if I hadn't found this handy piece of code.
The article is 4 years old (2008), but thankfully, WP hasn't changed so much that it doesn't work. We use Thesis, so we know it works with that theme... should work with most! Happy coding!
