SpareOne is the only cellular phone in the world that runs on a single AA battery, providing a constant line of communication even in the absence of electricity as well as the ability to pre-program important phone numbers for easy access to visitor, travel and emergency services

Justin Ishley's insight:

SpareOne Mobile Phone has battery life of 15 years and it runs of a single AA battery. For the purpose of emergency use the device costs $99.99 and will work even without a sim card. Manufacturers claim that “SpareOne is the only cellular phone in the world that runs on a single AA battery, providing a constant line of communication even in the absence of electricity as well as the ability to pre-program important phone numbers for easy access to visitor, travel and emergency services.”

There are two models of spareOne are  available, offering coverage in either America and other countries that use the 850 and 1900MHz bands, or a 900/1800MHz version for the bulk of the rest of the world. A more expensive option also offers near-global coverage.

Review: X-Power 3 in 1 Speaker, Emergency Battery and Stand

Review: X-Power 3 in 1 Speaker, Emergency Battery and Stand | Wonderful Gadgets | Scoop.it
Make dead phone batteries a thing of the past with the super slick X-Power – your foolproof travel charging solution.
Justin Ishley's insight:

The X-Power is an easy to use, portable BATTERY, CHARGER and SPEAKER system in one, making it super simple to keep your Smartphone, tablet or iPod powered up wherever you are WITHOUT having to be near an electrical power point!

In order to use the speaker, all you have to do is, swirl the top and connect the phone via the 3.5mm Jack, and let it rest on the X-Power, yes, that way it acts like a Stand while playing the music, running out of power? Use the iPhone cable and connect one it to the Standard USB on the X-Power speaker and the other end to the iPhone and see it charge while you’re listening to your favourite music.

The X-Power is a 3-in-1 portable speaker, charger and desk stand for your mobile phone, tablet computer or MP3 player.  It allows you to play music through the speaker, whilst docking your device at a convenient and easy-to-view angle so you can still access the internet, emails and text messages without having to hold your phone or removing it from the speaker.  It cleverly detects any device’s audio signal and turns itself on or off accordingly, saving battery power.

HTC One vs HTC One X vs One X+ - SlashGear

HTC One vs HTC One X vs One X+ - SlashGear | Wonderful Gadgets | Scoop.it
Today the HTC One was introduced to the public, complete with a total overhaul of what it means to bring an HTC device to the market - but is it all that
Justin Ishley's insight:

With the HTC One you’ve got the newest in new: a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor with 2GB of memory powering a fabulous 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 display at 1920 x 1080 pixels. The HTC One X+ has a quad-core 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor while the original HTC One X worked with either that same NVIDIA SoC at 1.5GHz (internationally) or the 1.5Ghz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. As far as displays go, both of the X models had a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 panel at 1280 x 720 pixels strong.

So while the X had 312ppi (pixel density), the HTC One works with a massive 468ppi – that’s quite the jump, and edging in on where the human eye can no longer discern pixels – wild! The new HTC One works with Gorilla Glass 2 as the HTC One X+ did while the One X worked with the original Gorilla Glass.

Inside you’ll find two iterations available for the original HTC One X, with 32GB of storage available in the international edition and 16GB inside the LTE version – the HTC One X+ came only in 64GB internal storage. The HTC One is coming in both 32GB and 64GB internal storage iterations. Each of these devices works with Android, while the original came with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4 and the new HTC One comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.

The original HTC One X worked with a 1800 mAh battery, the X+ had a 2100 mAh battery, and the new HTC One works with a beastly 2300 mAh battery. While the original HTC One X came in White or Gray, the X+ came in black, and the two iterations of the HTC One revealed thus far have been silver and blac.

StormFly: Carry Your Operating System on Your Wrist Wherever You Go

StormFly: Carry Your Operating System on Your Wrist Wherever You Go | Wonderful Gadgets | Scoop.it

Justin Ishley's insight:

Initially created as an alternative to cloud storage, Now Computing designed business devices to locally move systems from PC to PC. There’s 4 GB for user settings and personal information and the rest is allocated for a shared folder.

Security and Backup - Now Computing is also introducing a rather refreshing take on the back-up of data. Users can opt to pay an annual subscription of US$19.99 to have the device back itself up to the company’s encrypted servers whenever it gets online. Should a StormFly wristband get lost or stolen, a new one can be ordered from Now Computing (for $49) and the company will create a replacement using the last saved backup. This will then be sent out by courier.

Cost and Launch Date - A pledge of $59 will secure an orange- or black-colored StormFly (three months backup service included). The Evangelist level for $199 includes lifetime backup and one replacement StormFly. If successful, backers could get to wear and use StormFly as early as April.

Justin Ishley's insight:

A new GPS device for bike owners has just launched on Kickstarter, called The BikeSpike. If you’ve ever had your bicycle stolen, you’re probably familiar with the frustration of losing your two-wheeled mode of transport. A Chicago- based startup is addressing that pain point with a gadget that alerts your smartphone when your bike is tampered with and makes it easy to notify the police.

What does BikeSpike do?

Monitor your bike’s location on a map using your phone or computer.Grant temporary access to local law enforcement, helping increase the chances of recovery.Digitally “lock” your bike and receive a notification if your bike moves from it’s geo-fenced location or if someone even tampers with it.Collision detection system can alert key members of your contact list and share the location of an accident.Share your stats (distance, speed, and courses…) with friends, coaches and spectators.Monitor your children and get notified if they ride out of their safe zone.Open API allows developers to create gaming and fitness apps that you can download and use with the device or use the data created from the BikeSpike to integrate with the existing apps you already love. Export a GPX file.PLUS, with the Hacker Pack, you can connect it to a motorcycle or other on- board batteries for a continual charge.

Review.. Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Case Mini for the iPad Mini

Review.. Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Case Mini for the iPad Mini | Wonderful Gadgets | Scoop.it

"The keyboard response is better than the offerings from both ZAGG and Belkin, and as a cover, it offers full protection for your Mini’s screen, while adding a minimum of size and weight.

Like Logitech’s original Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, the Ultrathin Mini is sleek and very thin. One difference is that, while the full-sized version was originally only offered in black (a white version followed later), Logitech released both colors out of the gate with the Ultrathin Mini."
