Seattle, Washington ––July 26, 2012 – MBA Women International (MBAWI) announced today that Heather Howell has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors. She is the CEO of Rooibee Red Tea and leads the company in manufacturing, marketing, sales and distribution of the original full line of USDA Organic ready-to-drink rooibos tea.

 

“We are extremely excited to have Heather as our new board chair,” says Gail Romero, CEO of MBAWI. “She comes with a rich organizational history as a founding member of our largest professional chapter – Louisville, Kentucky, a conference chair for the 2010 conference held in Louisville and a member of the board of directors for the last two years. She is an extraordinary leader and role model for women and has helped this organization grow by over 1,300% in the last six months. We see amazing growth and international leadership with her at the helm.”

Women hold 16% of board seats in Corporate America and are the consumers and the economic engine for corporations worldwide. While serving as the CEO of her corporation, Heather Howell has built a balanced board of directors for Rooibee Red Tea and has brought amazing success in sales nearly tripling year over year.

 

“As the chairman of MBAWI, I look forward to leading this organization by example and creating a top notch organization for women worldwide,” says Ms. Howell. “I am honored to have been chosen to lead the board into the 21st century continuing to build leadership skills for women of diversity. I am pleased to welcome aboard our newest board member – Christine “Chrissie” Johnston, a woman who not only exemplifies our mission and vision – but also a woman who has for years held up the importance of women as leaders as a beacon for us all.”

Ms. Johnston is an attorney at K&L Gates LLP, an international law firm with nearly 2,000 lawyers in 41 offices across four continents. She has joined MBA Women International as the organization grows and develops women in collegiate and professional chapters. Ms. Johnston concentrates her practice in the employment and labor area where she represents employers in dispute resolution, employment counseling and transactional matters. She holds a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University and J.D. from Cornell University.

 

“I firmly believe in and support the goal of advancing women into leadership roles and am excited about the opportunity to work with the talented and enthusiastic leadership of this strong and growing organization to help further that goal," says Ms. Johnston. Ms. Johnston will work to assist with legal and chapter development as the organization continues to grow internationally as the emerging expert in women’s leadership education.

 

“Chrissie will join the nine other board members to build the organization to skillfully undertake the demands of the leading MBA Women’s International programming,” continues Ms. Howell. “We expect great things from our entire board this year as they provide strategic infrastructure and guidance to the fastest growing international MBA women’s organization.”

MBA Women International will hold their annual Leadership Conference and Career Fair October 18-20 in Phoenix, Arizona.
