NEWSFLASH: Gym Classes Opened to Saudi Girls | Women of The Revolution | Scoop.it

The change comes just three years after Saudi Arabia sent its first-ever women athletes to the Olympics. Sarah Attar and Wodjan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shahrkhani competed in the London Games in the 800m run and judo competitions, respectively. 12 Empowering Children's Books To Add To Little Girls' Bookshelves | Women of The Revolution | Scoop.it

Masa Vukotic murder: Travelling alone isn't women's biggest safety risk

Masa Vukotic murder: Travelling alone isn't women's biggest safety risk | Women of The Revolution | Scoop.it

No, despite all this hand-wringing and concerned instruction, women are very well-versed in the things that pose a risk to our safety. Or rather, the one thing that poses the biggest risk. Men.

This is the actual reality of the world that we live in, but apparently we're not allowed to talk about it because it's unfair and cruel and misandrist and mean. Don't we know that the MAJORITY of men are good and decent people? How DARE we besmirch their names and reputations by discussing the demonstrable, evidence supported problem of male violence and its protracted, deliberate impact on women!

Police Commissioner Admits Only Safe Place For Women Is A Man-Proof Vault

Police Commissioner Admits Only Safe Place For Women Is A Man-Proof Vault | Women of The Revolution | Scoop.it

Victoria's chief of homicide has admitted that the only place where women are not vulnerable to acts of violence is inside a man-proof vault. In the wake of another random stabbing, this time in a Melbourne park, he has recommended that each woman be issued a vault by the government.   "We've tried everything to tackle the problem of male violence. Telling women not to go out, telling them not to dress too sexy, telling them to use the buddy system," said the Inspector. "I can't see any other way"

10 Badass Sikh Women in History

10 Badass Sikh Women in History | Women of The Revolution | Scoop.it

In India, women of the Sikh faith have fought, ruled, taught and served for centuries. They have managed organizations, guided communities and led revolts. These accomplishments are admirable in their own right, and they are even more impressive when viewed in the context of the intense patriarchy and cultural misogyny against which these women were working.
