Jordy Shivnen's curator insight, March 15, 1:14 AM

After falling approximately 7 metres into a paper pulping machine the victim only sustained a fractured left foot.

The Health and Safety Executive (2016) set the scene of a

worker who was tightening a bolt when the wrench he was using wrench slipped off the bolt causing him to lose balance and fall. There was no safety rail stopping him from falling from such a height. Working at heights was not listed in the risk assessment of this task. It was luck that the paper mill was not in use at the time.

I chose this article because I am interested in workplace health and safety regulations for working at heights. In the next 5 years I would like to investigate and trial protocols and equipment that ensure workers safety is maximised when working from heights.
