A bit surprised at how closely this resembles the most popular songs in the US last year. The UK is usually far superior to America, musically. Apparently Maroon 5 is out to conquer the world...and it's working.

VIDEO: Daft Punk | Ok, uhm sampling live instruments ? Whoah, hooda thunk?

This new Daft Punk record better change the game or it will will be the most recent anti-climatic moment in record making history.

Show Up Public's curator insight, April 14, 2013 6:38 AM

Ok, so I learned something during my stay in France, that most of the French music groups like Daft Punk and Air that have globally crossed over come from serious money and music connections in the family. This is not to belittle popular French music, but it leaves me curious that not more everyday folks have crossed over and represented France. Especially with all of the support that the arts receive in this country. What the hell is up with that?

This new Daft Punk record better change the game or it will will be the biggest anti-climatic moment in record making history. Wow, the brilliant idea of recording music live and sampling it. Hooda thunk? Give me a break, that isn't a new idea, but I hope the Daft Punk record is good just because I always want good music to rise to the top.

Moving at the Speed of Creativity | Create an All-iPad Class Radio Show with AudioBoo, Bossjock, GoodReader, & SoundCloud

Moving at the Speed of Creativity | Create an All-iPad Class Radio Show with AudioBoo, Bossjock, GoodReader, & SoundCloud | Wiseband | Scoop.it

Do students in your classroom regularly create online “radio shows” to share information with parents and others? With more people than ever (over half of U.S. adults) owning smartphones capable of accessing Internet websites and playing digital audio files, classroom radio shows can potentially reach a larger percentage of your parents than ever. Common Core State Standards require that students improve their oral communication skills and also practice publishing digital content online. An Internet-based classroom radio show can be a “supervised stage” for your students to demonstrate as well as develop their oral literacy skills/fluency, share information about school learning and events, and also share about topics they’re interested in and therefore have high levels of intrinsic motivation to discuss...

Now it’s 2013, and iPads are among the most powerful and useful technology tools in many classrooms as well as homes. Today I recorded a fifteen minute screencast tutorial, demonstrating how to create an “all-iPad” class radio show. By “all-iPad” I mean a digital radio show which can be ENTIRELY recorded, edited, and published with an iPad. To do this, students and I used AudioBoo (the “classic edition” iPhone app running on iPads,) Bossjock, GoodReader, & SoundCloud with a self-hosted WordPress site. There are definitely many other ways to create and share classroom radio shows, but this is the best way I’ve found (so far) to create an iPad-only radio show with multiple spots / parts.

Internet Radio and Cars: The Future is Now – Or Else

Internet Radio and Cars: The Future is Now – Or Else | Wiseband | Scoop.it

According to Valerie Shuman, Vice President of Industry Programs for the Connected Vehicle Trade Association, the connected car is not a thing of the future. It’s here today.

Speaking as part of “The Digital Dash,” panel at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas, Shuman says connectivity is here now thanks to the number of cars with AUX jacks that allow consumers to connect smartphones to their vehicle’s entertainment system, “that’s when you can start to bring in lots of content that competes with radio and people are doing just that.”

For broadcasters, she says that means starting to think of radio in the car as being part of an “in vehicle computing platform,” not as the dominant feature on car dashboards, “think of it as being on a laptop or smartphone. The old two knobs and dial set up is pretty much gone.”

REAL-TIME MUSIC CHARTS: One Social Media Blogger Speculates the Potential of the New Twitter Music App

Via Show Up Public

Show Up Public's curator insight, April 13, 2013 8:29 AM

Catherine P. Taylor of Social Media Insider speculates that Twitter's new stand-alone music app will redefine Billboard style music charting in real-time. She thinks that Twitter will use technology from a company they acquired called We are Hunted; a little heard of music social media site that quantified what music was being discussed online. This could be interesting when thinking about how people try and find music. But I hope that Twitter's filtering and categorizing of popular music on the web is more involved when trying to highlight popularity. Or maybe all it will reveal is nothing more than we already know by the number of Justin Beiber fans that are accounted for on Twitter. How will popularity be defined in real-time? For the purpose of discovery of new music how do we prioritize our search criteria; quantitatively, qualitatively or selectively organize by taste? I don't care that Justin Timberlake is discussed by 20 million people world wide. How is this new or useful information to someone looking for music more to the taste of Killer Mike or my own band St.Lô [shameless plug: [www.stlomusic.com ]?
