The winning bid to replace Chez Sophie on the Esplanade Riel pedestrian bridge has been chosen.
Wow Hospitality, the owners of the Peasant Cookery and Muddy Water Ribs and Wings, plus five other local establishments, were chosen by the city and will open a French-themed restaurant called Mon Ami Louis, if the proposal is approved by council.

The chosen blueprint to the city’s planned upgrades to St. Boniface’s most famously congested intersection were unveiled to the public for the first time Tuesday.
In the afternoon, city officials unveiled MMM Group Limited's, the project’s contractor, choice of design for the proposed $250-million Marion Street widening and underpass at Archibald Street at a public open house at Archwood School in St. Boniface.
Of the five alignments on the table, MMM gave preference to option two, which they tout as being a more direct route 115 connection between Marion Street and Dugald Road and a design which will lower impacts along Panet Road and Marion Street during construction.

Fundraising is about to begin for an ambitious re-development of the Gas Station Theatre Arts Centre at the corner of River Avenue and Osborne Street
A $32-million, eight-storey, 82-unit housing co-op, featuring affordable and community housing, as well as a brand new 300-seat performance space, are part of the project.
In partnership with the Performing Arts Lodge and several other community groups it is hoped that a total of 31 of the units will be affordable and 51 market-priced.

Manitoba's retail sales edge up

Retail sales were up ever so slightly in Manitoba in February after two consecutive months of decline.
The month-over-month increase was only 0.4 per cent compared to a national increase of 1.7 per cent, according to Statistics Canada
Comparing February 2014 to February 2015, sales were up 1.3 per cent in Manitoba, again lagging behind the national increase of 2.5 per cent.
