Wing sail technology
Wing Sail Technology : A wingsail is a form of marine propulsion similar to conventional sails. However, a wingsail is a built-up structure with airfoil cross-section, like an airplane wing, which shape can provide a much better lift-to-drag ratio than conventional sails.

Paul Larsen signe un record personnel

Paul Larsen signe un record personnel | Wing sail technology | Scoop.it

Great job! A mixture of a hydrofoil and a WIG-wing- = great potential to be explored yet! Good luck!

Advanced Wing Systems Moth Wing Test

Advanced Wing Systems Moth Wing Test | Wing sail technology | Scoop.it

Testing went much better today. Still a few minor issues to sort out. Also ran out of vang adjustment so the set up was not ideal. However we did get a peak speed of 23.2 knots in 10 knots (gusting to 12) of wind (at 11:25:50). So a bit more work to do this week before having another crack next weekend.

Vestas Sailrocket 2 - the search for a breakthrough | Wing sail technology | Scoop.it
The VESTAS Sailrocket 2 project will be returning to the waters of Walvis Bay, Namibia this September with a new hydrofoil package which they hope will bring them an outright world speed sailing record.

The record currently stands at 55.65 knots (64 mph) and is held by American Kite Surfer Rob Douglas. VESTAS Sailrocket 2 was built in the VESTAS R+D facilities on the Isle of Wight and launched in the Medina River in March 2011. The project then relocated to Namibia where ideal conditions occur on a regular basis.
