The history of Terra Fageto winery

Dante grew up among vines and olive trees. His love for the land and the experience passed on by his father Emidio, pushed him to work harder and to offer others the fruit of his work. This is how the idea to start selling the wine he produced directly from his front door was born. This spirit of sacrifice and initiative rewarded his efforts and traced the furrow for the new generations.

The Bruni 54 hybrid vine variety was created in 1936 by Prof. Bruno Bruni, who served in the Italian Ministry of Agriculture in the period 1930 to 1950. It was obtained by crossing by pollination the Sauvignon Blanc and Verdicchio cultivars. It is quite uncommon and exclusively grown in the Marches region. This vine variety had almost totally disappeared when the winery decided to replant a few vines in the context of a project for the reviving of old precious cultivars. [...]

These parfumes had enriched and given meaning to my life, I don’t care if I have to sweat and work hard as a man or even more to obtain them: the important thing is to be able to preserve them as long as possible inside a bottle, with the hope that they can represent more and more the terroir that Simone and I have created just for them."

Tiziana Santucci

Verdicchio is one of the excellence of world oenology and few producers do it better than Bisci.

The vineyards were totally replanted starting from the seventies and are located at an altitude of 300-350 mts on sea level with southern exposure. The alternation of sunny days and of fresh and dry nights gives the grapes character and an extremely fine fragrance. Bisci practices organic agriculture, but is not certified organic. Integrated insect and disease control is followed. The Marche Region monitors climatic data and informs the growers in regard to the need for disease control...

Le Marche Wines: Boccadigabbia, A Winery in the Wake of Napoleon

Le Marche Wines: Boccadigabbia, A Winery in the Wake of Napoleon | Wines and People | Scoop.it
The winery I am talking about is Boccadigabbia, by the Adriatic Sea, just outside Civitanova. My visit became the optimal combination of wine and history.
Mariano Pallottini's insight:

In the early 1800s the Napoleonic kingdom of Italy annexed territory in Le Marche formerly owned by the Papacy or religious orders. Shortly thereafter this territory became a very large estate known as the "Amministrazione Bonaparte." One portion of this estate was known as the "Boccadigabbia Podere" and was used for wine growing....

Wine tasting at Dezi

Wine tasting at Dezi | Wines and People | Scoop.it

The Dezi winery has a range of two white wines and three red wines from €8 to €25 a bottle. The two reds – Solo and Regina del Bosco – are the most expensive price point and both are delicious, although we finally settled on Solo as our favourite. Of the two whites, Solagne is the cheapest and the drier wine, while P. is a syrupy honey coloured blend. We preferred Solagne after much deliberation. So, after lots of wine tasting ( it’s no problem for them to open all the bottles for you) we bought a box of mixed wines and were given some lovely bottles of their own olive oil to take away.
